Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

i did just find the adapter with the resistor for the gauge on ebay...

I remember all this now from researching the K5.. the 144's are sweet cuz the 140 and 200 amp are common.. plus good idle charge charechteristics... but they run bucks... like $250 to 400... the 12si can be had pretty cheap, think my parts guy today said he had the 90 amp for a little over $100... if i can get a 105 or 120 amp for $150 or less, I may take that route for now... after the tires, I've only got about $300 to my name for the next 10 days or so.. plus I still need to mount the new rubber this weekend...

I went with a CS144 on my new build.... :waytogo:

Dremu had some good tech on the various differences and adapting the newer style alternator...its been awhile but I remember reading up on his posts leading up to my purchase.

Good stuff.

I decided to just go with a 94 amp upgrade from my parts guy... freakin $66... :haha:

stripped all 4 painted rims to raw steel..... was too lazy to sandblast em, so i did some aircraft stripper and DA and hand sanding... tomorrow I'll Ryoken green em and satin black em..

the inner backs I'm just gonna use the 2 best chrome ones for now... the 2 sh*tty chrome ones, which will be off the rig now, I'll sandblast at some point, put em in black and swap em into the mix down the road...

You think these were ****ty, I had 4 chrome rims that you coudn't even recognise as chrome anymore, they were rusted so bad, and I was in a cleaning frenzy so I scrapped them, I was holding on to them for maybe stripping them and painting them, but ended up with some nice 19.5" rims with tires so I let them go.
I had paid $25 per wheel for them a few years back and they just sat outside until they rusted.

The truck is looking great already Paul, nice work as usual.

I think it sounds funny when you say you'll "Ryoken green" something. It sounds redundent or maybe in the 3rd person. If you think about it, if you paint anything green, it's almost implied it has to be ryoken green, because you did it. :D There's only one Ryoken. :waytogo:

thanks Heath... I should have a major update friday night...

it's funny you mention the "Ryoken green", that's actually the first time I've referred to it as that.... :haha: it's actually more recognizable in this forum by that name I think, than zinc chromate at this point.... :doah:

rims be black.... new alt in.. truck is a big hit around the marina... :haha:

yup.... dropping 4 of em off this morn for mounting..... I'm stoked...

friday, dinner time... it's got 4 on now.... they're stoutly.....
