Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

yup, I figured something like that will work well... just wanna make sure I'm not relying on the C-hoop floodlights to give me enough light in the drawers....

boy, that'll be a fun project, setting those up with tools and parts! :woot: :pimp: :saweet:

that's gonna be today's project, figuring out how I want the 2 different partitioning configs set up... 2 of one set up, 2 of another... now that I know the drawers will be about 7" deep, I'm thinking 2 will have 7" high dividers, and the other 2 I may do lower, like 4"ers... want to figure out the actual cubbyhole dimensions today tho...

also gonna tentatively figure out the dimensions of the lower hanging boxes too...

I just saw two interesting things. Firstly a garbage truck with amber turns, so clearly legal.

Secondly said garbage truck had round LEDs but they would sunburst from the center out when blinking.

You need that!

it does look better the other way.... color progressing..

maybe I'll sacrifice what I think is safer, for what looks better...

I like the angled look. If you think it's safer to have blinkers on the outside, then put the two yellows in between the reds. I think it will look good either way though, nice work.

Same one I have used no ground wire. Worked fine but I had normal front blinkers

That is true, if I put just "one" std bulb in the LED flasher without a ground wire, it worked fine, but with only LEDs, it didn't work. So it might work even if the only regular bulb is the one in the dash. But if you have 100% LED, I would get the one with the ground wire.

I saw something similar with one of the red ovals I was looking at.. when the dimmer "park" lights where on, it had this brighter center section. so when the brake light came on, it all went to that same brightness..

I didn't like it.. at all... I actually don't like the look of LED's "individual" bulb deal... that's why I picked those expensive reverse lights with the heavily diffused lenses...

if it where up to me, it would just be a nice even, superbright light thru the lens.. more of bright incandescent look...

to the point, that I would actually consider wetsanding the whole lens to even it out and diffuse the light, yet maintain good brightness..

I love the tech, and performance, but sometimes not the "look" so much... :dunno:

.

funny you say that.. yeah, something like left to right.. red, orange, red, orange, red, white.. I thought of that.. I may take some pics of it today.. but for as much as I like the idea, I don't.... my mind says it would confuse the issue... but I'll do some pics today and see what I think of it.. thanks.. :D

good news is, I have NO plans to recess anything at this point, so no need to hack up that mockup piece, and I can actually maybe use it for a rough template for cutting the panels..... prayers requested for a successful bending operation.. :haha:

ok... some drawer setup stuff... :pimp:

the plan is to keep this as simple as possible and do 2, and 2, to keep the price down as best as possible...

the first pair of drawers, which btw, I'll be splitting up 1 per side, will just have 3 long compartments...

like this...

100_1599_zps50140020.jpg

they will be full height dividers..... obviously one side will be for stacked plastic cases... the other side will have one compartment for long prybars, screwdrivers, straight edges, etc... than the other 2 will be for cordless tool stuff...

the other 2 drawers will be 6 compartments, with slightly lower, 4 or 5" high walls.. one of these will be for magnetic socket trays, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, handtools, etc..

the other will be for misc hardware and parts....

setup like this probably...

To me that is too many lights. I like the look of the three square lights better.
If you do go with all those lights above, I would like to see those wired up with a sequence turn signal. Like a mustang.

I just can't see doing sequential lights... if it was a whole series of reds next to the white, with no ambers, absolutely... but it doesn't make any sense here with just 2 ambers being the turns...

nope....

ghey.....

if I should decide to wuss out on the 6 light amber deal, this is what I would go with...

How about a 2/2/2 setup with a pair of red, pair of amber, and pair of reverse lights per side? It'd look pretty symmetrical that way. And lots of reverse lighting is nice to have

#3 2/2/2 I agree the more backup light the better. Just think if you are baking to a trailer or some project in late afternoon it's nice to see how close you can get the "workbench" to it. Also with the angle of the bed the light will be thrown more to the sides. In which case the poor bastage in the lane next to you is gonna get lit up.....

One a side note, I love how the other members think about other build through the day and give good input and resources for each others projects.

tho #3 looks good.. as I mentioned earlier, reverse lights to me, aren't that important.. that may become more important down the road if I start hauling boats around, but I also figure I can just as easily flip the floodlights on for trailer hookups...

it's more important to me that the "proportions of lighting" while daily driving make it "other car friendly".. the 3 park/tails do that.. that's more important to me.. this is "congested as fock, we drive like idjits" joysey after all...

I'm in a #1, or #4, if I feel #1 is a "bit much" category...

another thing to keep in mind here guys is, that it is a swappable format... it's more a question of how many...
