Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Are those allen screws real mounting screws or just visual? If they're mounting screws, will there be room on the backside for nuts or whatever you're going to fasten it with?

Josh

well, throw all this out the window! :haha: :doah:

while 2 of the small chincy #8 studs are usable at one end

the 2 at the other end, are not... you can see where the little hole was for it was at the corner, right inline with the box wall.......

it looks like I can barely swap out the 2 hex allens at each end, and the one in the middle on the longsides, and put longer ones in and use them as studs.. more beef too....

oh, and I forgot.. I'm actually changing all of the allens (2 different lengths), for black SS.. like the rest of the tube bed...

I can't tell if it's insanity, OCD, or just common sense that having your fasteners match sounds perfectly reasonable to me :haha:

:haha:

didn't think about it till I needed to swap em out.. than it was "duh, do em black..." :doah:

should work out...

you might be breaking state law...maybe even some kind of squarebody porno law, but you could feesably fill up with a nozzle in each side :haha:

The dual filler necks will be handy once you swap to diesel. Most truck stops have the satellite pump for filling both sides at once, and the larger nozzles will fill that tank up in no time.

cool.. didn't know they had that... thanks! :D

one thing I'm doing with this tank is putting a lower NPT drain in it.. oh, and it's also gonna have built in, stand-off brackets on the bottom for a heat shield for the muffler... it's about 5" or 6" away......

The Can Man will definitely need a high res pic of you filling this rig up from both sides at the same time.

The next time you are at a truck stop, look at the diesel pumps for the semi tractors, you'll see what he means.

lol.... thanks brudda....

somehow, that kinda makes all my patheticness seem worthwhile... :dunno: :haha: :doah:

it's kinda why I started the K5, and later Mutt, to somehow leave what I've learned/envisioned and put my insignificant mark on building schtuff.... :pimp:

I'll long be worm-food, but maybe 25 yr's from now Adam will be recounting build/fab stories about me at Dunefest 29.... good times... :woot:

better come out and plan on working while your there! its the stuff legends are made of!:pimp:

still waiting on Mig tips, sanding belts and the other door.. but most of the hardware is here and the most important parts, the fills are here...

the green dizzle caps came free with the necks... i'll throw em in the parts bin and put on some black gas ones till I do 6BT......

looks like the recess boxes will be about 2.5" deep or so... If I can have all the alum welding/fitting done this weekend, happy, joy, joy...

oh, and just build babble... I'll actually be mounting that neck flange on the backside of the 1/4" Al of the box..... neck sticking thru... keeps the package as shallow as possible.. and will just look better..

than I'm gonna run 6 of the same smaller 1/4" - 20 black countersunks as the top hatch and gas door, and use them to attach the neck.. so it'll be the cap with all alum behind it.. and the 6 black countersunks in the alum around that...

I think I need a stick of DOM????!!!!!???? :doah: :doah:

not sure I have enough for both lower boxes..

anyway, more drivel... the main reason I loaded up with TONS o' 5052 was so once the doghouse is fabbed, and I'm waiting for fundage for the tank guy ($$$2000), I'll have plenty o' materials for fabbing the lower boxes while waiting for the tank..

need to go mesh that.. hate sending the truck out for just a stick...

oh, and ballpark materials/$$$$$/muscle,blood in the tubebed build at this point, about 4 g's.... prolly 600 hr's.. 7 boxes of bandaids..

As long as it's band aids and not stitches your money ahead. Good job on keeping it budget :haha::waytogo:

guys buy nice rigs for that coin... :doah: eh, Mutt's worth it... :pimp:

should have added 27.4 gallons of bourbon to that list too... :doah: :pimp:  :haha:

hoping to have BOTH hanging boxes done by sept 1.. and than maybe by oct first having the tank in, and hopefully a sick dual bat system in... wait till you guys see this chit... :saweet:

nov 1, 4:88's for the front... jan, feb, march and april = K5.......... may/june/july = kennel

Ooh k5 work soon?

Mutts bad ass. I wanna see the k5 done. I understand the deveation though.
