Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

the K5's... comp hi-backs.. Mutt's will be identical, but in the DDer version... late spring next yr, right before I do the floor/kennel...

And why are you hording tires! :thumb:

with the Baja's seeming to go away pretty quick from surplus supplies, I wanted to pick up some more to rotate in as needed.. to be honest, I'd love to pick up another 4 or so over the next yr, if I can still find em in the spring/summer...

going sat to pick up steel for the bumper uprights, stoked on this fab project fo sure! :saweet:

I know many are looking at those pics thinking, "oh the factory light looks better, yada" but in the end, my choice will be right... :deal:

It's your truck, your tastes, and your decision. :) Of course it's right lol

I don't mean in that regard, just that when the bumper is done, it'll make more sense...

I actually like how you did that light and think it looks good.

Now I'm really looking forward to seeing the bumper pics:popcorn:

Makes sense with tires! :thumb: As for the lights...there is nothing you have done I didn't think "That turned out great! :waytogo:" I trust that your bumper and grill will turn out tits as usual!

Just thought it was funny that I could hear crickets.

I'm excited to see the bumper. I do love that stock front-end, but I'm withholding judgement until I see the package. I think like the rest of it - it will pull all together.

thanks mang... :waytogo: that's all I ask, reserve judgement till I'm done... :D

kinda bummed, picking steel up tomorrow.. I'll start bangin on it, but pretty certain it wont be ready for the car show..

my topic for today was whether I was gonna be an obnoxious rebel, and not even wash the rig beforehand... or if I'll detail it out and try to make it look decent... :haha:

These made me think of you. Then duck and the badass ride.

thanks.. :D it was the motivation for me running it.. I really didn't know of it from Convoy, but fell in love with it from Deathproof, absolute junkie for that flick!

I say hit some mud and leave a trail INTO the car show. A spray bottle or two of water to loosen the mud and mark your spot!!

so.... today was a diligence, "pay my dues" kinda day... :doah:

whole truck full of steel picked up yesterday.. everything I need to build the bumper... chomping at the bit to get going on it....

but I needed to make the other turn signal setup on the ps... :doah: did that.... :woot:

got my final outer template for the uprights done.... this is just the outer 3/8 plate... the mirrored one that will sandwich the frame horn will basically be the same, except down by the rail...

they will sandwich a slightly smaller one that will be 3/16 to make up the frame thickness.... so each upright will be 15/16 thick....

and here you can see the turn signal plate...

the outer angled supports, above the main tube, will wrap around the fender corner like the K5, and they will tie into the uprights about an inch, maybe 2, below where that upper, middle tube will go across...

what are you going to do to finish the sharp edge of the "fang" where you cut it?

That's going to look good.

I have high hopes for it... :D

I'm gonna plate the bottom with 1/8" to give it some beef.. kinda like I did with the back of the K5 ones...

fendersection046.jpg

the bottom will be flat, but I'm thinking of reworking the back corner so it's kinda like the K5... but instead of somewhat rounded like this.

fendersection087.jpg

I'll start it where that rounds, but just do a super tight turn, than have it straight the last couple inches... to match the angle of the cut bumper tube....

some better dusk shots........

the new LED's for the side markers and roof lights should be here tomorrow or tues... so these will make good comparison shots....

and a quick clip of the slower blinkers with the now installed adjustable flasher.... I think it's pretty "right on the money", maybe just a tad slow...

sorry no crickets tonight, just Ministry..... :saweet:

next weekend begins the bumper fab.... hopefully I can get 2 full days in... :grind: :hack::weld:  :saweet:

need a fog machine to make it smoky like...like in Jaws where Hooper and Brody cruise up on Ben Gardner's boat...

that would be cool coming out the bottom of the rig for the "Halloween themed" car show in a few weeks....

that, and red LED eyes for the Mallard! :haha:
