Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

yeah, I'd wanna do that dream 41 Willy's I've always wanted to do..

or it would be a Cuda or Challenger again for mental nostalgia, to see what I could do now with the skillsets I've developed on my fave sheetmetal ever... but I'd have to rob a bank for the basket case..

I could always go for another chevelle tho.. but between finishing Mutt, the K5 and building a trailer to haul it around.. a future hotrod is probably a decade off, if I make it that long!!! :doah: :haha:

working on Mutt tomorrow, YAY! :woot:

yeah, also fixing the ps taillight... I wanna see about getting the 2 uprights kinda done... got the 4 3/8" pieces shaped.. just gotta cut the slightly undersized, center 3/16 layer of the sammich.. burn em all in and reshape.... run the mount holes all the way thru, get the towpoints bored.... once they are done, the funner stuff starts, bending tube and skidplates, oh my....

I may be able to get pretty far on this... got a couple doc appts tues (hand doc should let me know when he can do the surgery than), but other than that, don't have much planned for the rest of jan.... hopefully surgery will be the first week of feb, hopefully.. might actually be able to finish it...

I'm happy for you on the pup...you must be filled with anticipation! I am just starting to feel a little ok after the death of my pet...haven't been much interested in stuff but it seems to be getting a little better. Pets are such great companions especially for us single guys...maybe one day I will be talking to a breeder like you did. There are some things and places I want to travel to without having to worry about a pet though...maybe those will happen. Glad to see you are still plugging along with your build.

thanks.. I'm beyond revved.... not sure how it's gonna affect my life, Mutt's build, etc, but I expect to devote 24/7 to Kai for the rest of 016 if need be to raise a great bud...... my annual labor day week of fishing may not happen this yr, but I'll see how Kai is at that point...

I do have some concerns about my fab work and his hearing..... not like I can have him hanging in the LAB™ with me while grinding and such.. not to mention the metal splinters, etc that I throw all over...

unfortunately I won't be able to fence the yard... but I do plan to have a killer cable run for him in the yard like I had for my Rott in the day.. it'll be about 80' long with a pullyed runner on it that's about 25 feet long...

couple days shy of 4 weeks.....

Starting to get some tan showing through. Have you gone over and actually seen them yet?

no.. she doesn't allow visitors before their 6 week vet check..... hopefully I'm going out fri jan 29th to pick him out of the 4 boys... he comes home sunday feb 7.... :woot:

she says she's VERY impressed with the litter, they all eat VERY well, with great structure to them.. and are very confident and outgoing.... that's very important to me that the dog has good, strong nerve.... a confident dog, is a good dog...

sorry, no Mutt update yet... hopefully this weekend I'll have some pics.....

but I'll continue with a bit more semi off topic stuff since I don't want to waste a thread on this....

being a former vert masochist has it's detriments... :doah: :haha:

saw the hand doc today, he laughed at me.... I've got carpal tunnel in both hands that is almost triple the # value they should be.... it's bad.... it's like the time I walked around for 10 months with my ACL ripped off the bone...

if I don't get em done soon, I could be looking at permanent nerve damage.... :doah: :(

he says they could do the second one 2 weeks or so after the first if I decide to try and bang them out now..... factor in the whole pup coming home thing, me being a bachelor, etc and this is prolly gonna get dicey schedule-wise.. but I'll figure out something....

I can see it now tho, I wont be going back to work march 15.. EVEN if I can get just one done at the beginning of feb and recover is 4 to 6 weeks, it ain't gonna happen.... that's one thing about my job it's as physical as it get's... I have to be 100%, or the sh*t will just get wrecked......

throw in if I get the second one done a bit later, I may not be back till may 1..... I'm actually fine with that.. I'd go off unemployment, and right on temp disability... the boys can manage without me... and it would give me that much more early training time with Kai...

waiting on the surgery chick to get back to me about dates, etc...

I say do it. You don't wanna regret pushing it off ten years down the road when you can't button your pants by yourself

oh, it's already been going on 10 yr's... if I go thru another shrinkwrap season, they'll be f*cked... I literally lived with 2 wristbraces on for 6 weeks prior to x-mas.... if you wear em at night, it helps it subside.. but mine has gotten so bad, I had to wear em all day shrinking too.. but since I got laid off, they started feeling better in a couple days... they'll bother me periodically thru the rest of the yr here and there, but it's shrink season that completely shreds em.. I wont make it till x-mas next yr...

really think I'm gonna try to get both done now.. have to at least get one done... just gotta see how crazy that's gonna make my life with Kai coming.... might have to board him at the vet the day I have the second one...

I thought that's what elastic pants were for? :doah:

heck, I already live in sweats, and sweat shorts at work.... :haha: haven't worn button/zipper pants working on the boats in a decade..... they just hold up better crawling around the bilges generally.... tho the red cap work pants I used to wear are pretty good... you can't wear jeans, you'd be destroying a pair a week..

but I have 0 people to impress at the marina, and it's way more comfortable...

Get er done man. Definitely will be worth it. I've seen what waiting does with the father in law. He has permanent nerve damage. But at least he can cast his fishing pole one island beach. He would almost throw the pole in the water cause he couldn't grip anymore. Kai needs ya Mutt needs ya with good grips haha.

Fingers crossed for a seamless pair of surgeries! :thumb:
