Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

you might be happy just painting the bowtie to match and blend it all together?

I'm gonna do the GMC grill, I think it looks so much better than the chevy... than I'll paint the GMC letters my red... :D

Look around, but my experience is they are WAY overpriced. You can normally get the factory integration harness off ebay for $10 shipped, and wiring guides are all over the internet.

I order my stuff from whoever is cheapest....very often buy it now on ebay. Its not like i need customer service, or easy return, on a head unit.

i just figured with units around $100, there couldn't be too much difference.. but yeah, I'll definitely see how they compare to google results, etc..

I don't know, I must be retarded.. but doesn't the ord picture show the u-bolt kit coming with 2 studs and nuts for the perch?

http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Dana60frontaxleparts.htm

well, no studs, just 3 u-bolts.. great.. the bolts I have stay for now than...

sheesh, now i look, and ds pair of u-bolts are slightly different from each other.. what a waste of $100+, $60 overnight fees.. grrrrrrrr......

oh, what do you guys think of my selections on parts that got red, than black? I think it ended up coming out pretty cool looking, but ya never know till ya actually see it together.. not too circusy, coughoverthetopcough is it? :haha:
I think you've done pretty good with it. I like a splash of color down there so long as it's not too much. I think what you have is just about right.

cool, that's what I was shooting for... thanks :D

Nah, it's good. If you'd done chrome on ... well, anything, I'd be puking. But a bit of color, especially matched to the truck, is both pleasing aesthetically and helpful when working on the truck or showing it off.

Personally, I prefer understated, so in a perfect world I'd use a lot of flat paints. But -- as you know better than most/all of us :haha: -- the flat tends to be grittier and retain dirt/oil/crap, so I'm finding that I like mild gloss colors.

In your case, you can get away with a little subtle bling and shiny 'cuz it's so dang pretty :deal:

Looks very good, nice, quick, work!

How are you going to run a sway bar with crossover?

I usually put little highpass filters in the small front speakers under the dash, although mids and tweeters with crossovers would be much better.

someone on here a while back did a thread on running a custom swaybar with crossover. I cant remember who though:dunno: it can be done.

And most newer decks have built in crossovers so you dont need the inline ones anymore. You just have to read the manual to get to it cause most of them the deck has to be in standby or off to get to that menu.

actually.. I read about the presets.. for me it really isn't a big deal, I listen to the RATT, maybe the Hawk... just a couple stations... I'll be using the cd or flash 90+% of the time anyway...

and yeah, why is Crutchfield bad? I figured they might be a bit pricey, but actually, I'm betting they are fairly competitve.. I'm sure I could save 10, $20 if i go lowest price, but the big crutchfield/free stuff aspect may be worth it...

i don't know, haven't bought a car stereo in 20 yrs! :haha:

I usually use newegg for my electronic stuff, sometimes tiger direct...

They USED to be outragious but have gotten more competetive. I usually go to www.onlinecarstereo.com for everything. but I checked and their within $20 of crutchfield on the deck you want.

yeah, i remember it was earlier in the summer.. it was a kit.. he did a big hole/bushing deal thru the frame and such.. i just wanted to reengineer the factory one, but i doubt it's feasable now.. i'll see how much roll she has...

i'm really torn at the moment on the head units.. i'm not gonna order it till the 17th, so i can think about it some...

that I like mild gloss colors.

yeah, I'm kinda commited to that single stage gloss red, but all the black I run is always a satin or semi... going down to work now to pick up a couple cans for touchup's, when done...

The thing I like about Crutchfield is the guarantee - last one I bought for a K5 was just way - way too bright. I found the reflection in the windshield to be too distracting/annoying.

I sent it back and got something with only red lights that could be dimmed (I think it was an Alpine with HD radio too). It was so much better! I think my next truck will have only red leds inside!

thanks... :D

looks a bit better than 6 months ago....... :haha:

eclipse, kenwood and pioneer all have the best internal amplification. pioneers require an engineering degree to navigate the menu's I think.
eclipse is just great, with good power nice fetures and such but hard to find and pricey.
kenwood has always been my fall back, I've had alpines, tried dual, pioneer, eclipse, and I always come back to a kenwood. I personally think they sound best and are simple to navigate through. I currently have the 348, (2 models LOWER than this one http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_31102_Kenwood_KDC-HD548URB.aspx ) And fricken love it.

oh yeah, Mutt's looking sweet by the way:bow: The color choices under there are just right:waytogo:

on that note....

she don't look bad, just a couple inches of butt sag.. I should net about 3"s in the back after the flip/zerorate/block removal gig this weekend...

tomorrow I gotta reblead the brakes, do the u-bolts on the one side and install the lockouts... other than that the front is pretty done..
