it's the back and it's eleventy million pound rated spring pack that has no weight on it now that rides a bit rough...

tentative plans are for 4" springs and x-over... but I need to pick up a 2wd box...

you reminded me of something I wanted to post up about... so when I got the truck it had the giant leaf packs from he!!... they have what appears to be some sort of upper overload leaf on em.... but what really perplexes me is the factory rivet mounted, leaf stops I'll call em, that where riveted to the frame.. I've since cut em off in anticipation of the new 56's i'm gonna put in... but here they are/where pictured in this older pic....
just curious if anyone knew any specifics on what they where.... they obviously where factory...

Most 1 ton trucks have these overloads, all my crew cabs have them.
These were factory but on your truck, because of the heavy stake bed, they added leaves in the pack on top of the original ones.
Normally this truck would have come with 8 leaf pack with bottom overload, and top additionnal leaves.
They added I think 2 or 3 leaves.
And in the front they come in 3 leaves and they added one more for a total of 4.
If you take off all the leves that seam not original ( I know you can tell the difference just by lookig at them) you can make the ride much smoother, just need a new pin and new U bolts.
And if you don't need the brakets for the overload, I know some people would buy them from you.

cool, I figured as much... I've got all 4 that I cut off... btw, got that package the other day, thanks... maybe I'll go down to the dungeon and open it now...
oh, one thing I did notice in my scrubbing degreasing was that the front packs are marked Rancho...

I knew GM never made a 4 leaf pack but I assumed they had added a leaf, seen it before on another SRW CC I had.
yeah, I'm actually ok for now up front as it sits height-wise... it needs shocks up there real bad tho, the bushings are blown out for some metal to metal joy..
really for now I just need to soften up the back and let it come down a couple inches actually...
than I'll throw a flip out back and some 4" up front when I get around to that after the bed is built...

Then just do what I told you, remove the non factory leaves and put it back together, cost will be a new pin and some Ubolts, you might even be able to reuse you Ubolts cut down as long as the area you need threaded wasn't ruined by rubbing on anything.

as a cost saving progress thing... I'll be recycling my original flat brown K5 hood to this rig... it's clean and straight, whereas the current red one has this somewhat goofy crack issue...
so when I'm stripping/blasting my 2 new doors, the good fender Ice sent me, I may as well be stripping, priming/trimming the hood...
what this also allows me to do more importantly is continue to work on making the TBI more tunable and diagnostic-friendly by running my old mechanical fuel pressure gauge out on the hood.... the old hood has the hole/grommet setup in it, might as well use it...
so it'll be like the K5 was in the old days with the gauge on the hood......

Looks like if you remove the blocks and the few extra leafs and put the zero rate, the Ubolts will be in a spot with clean threads.
actually, good eye, that does look like a crack, eh? guess I'll go down and spy that a bit closer... 
Your setup, minus the extra leaves, is exactly what mine has factory. Those upper overloads and brackets look funky, but you'd be amazed how well they stabilize the load, once there is weight in the back! I loaded mine down full of gravel,wet, and it started touching the overloads and it road very well, better than my last truck did with the airbags.
I don't expect it to see that kinda weight..
well, that overload IS cracked right in 1/2.. certainly unsafe, so Ice just saved me from a fiery crash....

When I switched from 52s to 56s in the back of my old rig I threw the old 52 pack on the ground and the main leaf broke right in half! Was held together by rust and nothing but the u bolt plate.
