Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I don't expect it to see that kinda weight..

well, that overload IS cracked right in 1/2.. :eek1: certainly unsafe, so Ice just saved me from a fiery crash....

"see Hon, CK5 CAN save your life!!!!!" :haha:
Well I don't know about saving your life, I did after all sell you that truck:doah:
But it's wierd that the 1" thick overload is cracked, I wonder what could have done that.:eek1:

my pack looks pretty similar...no block on the bottom, and 8 leaves + top and bottom heavy overloads.

it does look that way, doesn't it? nah, they're fine, it's just some funky glare thing going on in the pic....

I'm tempted to just leave em manual... power windows in back for the pooch and manuals up front maybe.. I'll see....

I did learn today that the ds fuel tank is useless right now... was running low in the pass, hit the switch to go to ds full tank, and it nuked the ecm fuse like the other day... killed the truck... so I'm guessing that pump may be shorted out or something... that must have been what popped that fuse last week, not the wires up front to the sender..

gonna start farting around with that stuff this afternoon... trying to take it a bit easy this weekend as I'm a little burnt out...

grrrr..... dual tanks are giving me a headache already....

Dual tanks always give headaches, but they afe sweeg when you get em worked out

What you gonna do for mirrors? I know the factory ones look lame and a hugr source of wind noise but are awesome when towing, especially for you with all the gooseneck talk

Or you going to throw on late model mirrors

I like my mirrors. they are factory blazer style, but the have a little allen head bolt that allows the mirror to slide out like a foot from factory position. Then when your done it slides right back onto the door. Vibration isnt terrible either.

I'm just gonna run the mirror's on the red doors pictured above.. if in a couple yrs when I get a trailer, I find they are insufficient, I may try out the midsize ones I have from my 77....

I just hate putting a bunch of effort, and especially parts/money into em when I want to gut it and put the large single in anyway...

I bought the 89 C&K pickup wiring diagrams book... which btw, is MUCH easier to read than the one for my 87, but I can't find anything for the dual tank setup in it yet.... how the dash switch and switching valve are tied into the system....

now last night I got it to run on the ds, well I think it is anyway... just not certain the switching valve is working, or how it works.... I'm gonna drop the ds tank today, which of course is full, and put a new pump in it that I have to ensure I have a good pump in the tank I plan to use temporarily.......

now I know why the ds gas gauge wasn't working right, the float is missing.... :haha:

I thought I saw a thread somewhere here (or it was in a thread) about putting a 40 gal burb tank between the rails in the back of a pickup. Theres a few of them on here for sale more than cheap enough.

just a thought for ya

He knows about that, and he already has other ideas.:thumb:

I figured he new about it, Thought there might be enough high caliber awesome ideas rolling around his head with a new toy and all to forget the small stuff:haha:

yeah, unfortunately, my plans are for specific design requirements from the fuel tank... only custom will do...

for at least the next few months, the dual setup will do.... couldn't find the float in the tank, it was mostly full so it was a bit more difficult.. i assume it was floating somewhere in there... the arm and sender where there in working order, it's just the float was off the arm... :doah: I'll get one this week... now that I've been in there for the new pump and cleaned everything up, it'll be easy peezy going back in....

man, the new pump sounds way healthier on ign on than the old one... but it didn't seem to help the "fall on face at hard throttle" symptom it has going on....

cleaned up the IAC, tho it's symptoms wheren't indicative of an issue there... I was thinking it might be a TPS prob, but I just got the SES light working, checked codes, and miraculously, it isn't throwing any codes... :eek1: I was VERY surprised to see that...

it runs ok if ya baby it, but if ya get into it, it falls on it's face... gonna go see about getting my fuel pressure gauge in now...

Did you happen to check timing?
I never did, but if fuel pressure is good and everything else is new, that is the only thing left?:dunno:

yeah, I did timing early on, a couple days after i got it....

well then one thing I can think of:
I changed the wires because the coil wire was jumping spark to the engine, check to make sure it's not still doing that.
I fugured insulation was bad and when I changed the wires it was running very smooth.
Come to think of it, it was ticking when the wires were jumping spark, it was that loud, and when I had the hood open and looking at it I saw the blue sparks right next to the coil.
