Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I can't believe "Convoy" is brought up on here. Just last weekend the song and video was played on the computer by me an my kids, all weekend. :woot:

Convoy is cool to watch just because of the cars in it, but man that is one terrible movie.

As far as the hood ornament. Just fill the holes in. I hate hood ornaments.

what cars? it's all about big rigs, and I can't help it but it was a movie of my time, and on top of that I ended up becoming a trucker after all these years.:D
And I am having the same kind of harasment from the LEO's.:doah:

There is that awful Chevelle with the L88 hood scoop and the trashy flame paint job. That is the one that sticks out the most. The semis mean nothing to me.

well, after a MARATHON sesh yesterday into this morn, she's back up and running..

for the record, Riley Concrete has/had horrible maintenance practices.... what a varnish filled motor....

all parts cleaned, stripped, rg'd and repainted.... (note to self, I have got to get a blast cabinet going, and replace my shot bench grinder)

new dizzy, coil and fuel pressure in... got to go back this afternoon and do plug wires and get my other hood on....

and yeah, pickup coil was fubared... spins up fine now without fireballs out the TB...

oh, and......

55 lb's at idle with a high volume pump now... that gauge has been bottomed out on zero for 2 weeks, and god knows how long before that.. and I mean it wouldn't move, even when revved.. fired it up this morn and it went right to 55...

I can't believe the truck ran and didn't seize... :eek1:

the top end has been dry as the Sahara for a LONG LONG time... hopefully the valvetrain holds up for a bit.... the rockers seem pretty worn.... but the lifters are sounding better and better by the minute..... keeping my finger's crossed at this point.... :deal:

off to go prime the hood, do the Taylor wires and get the hood on hopefully..

Nice progress on getting it fixed and running better. Hope it holds up for you.

Damn you work fast! You must be valuable as hell around the marina! Im so glad to hear that the motor is getting whipped into shape and (should) last you a while!

oh, I killed it yesterday, 9 to 9.... got a f*ckton done...

thanks boys..... wow, AMAZING how much better the motor sounds... gotta get back in and check valve adjustment, but the truck runs vastly better all thru the rpm range...

I think the tank selector valve is fubared tho.... been running on the ds tank, had put a pump in and it seemed "ok", but this morn I put an adjustable pressure regulator in and the gauge and the ds wouldn't go above 9 psi and throttle would drop it to 6 with running issues obviously, even with the reg cranked up.

hit the switch to ps tank with the old pump, 13 psi steady and runs like a scalded dog.... I may add a fill to the passenger side this week just for convenience, just seems like that's the side it WANTS to run on... I see the selector valves run about a c-note... I'll have to do some more fuel system investigating this week....

hopefully by friday my Meineke guy can fit me in for some new exhaust too....

more pics tonight...

I remember back in the day that if you did not use both tanks regularly the switching valve would go bad and not switch to the other tank. Change a couple out because they quit working.

makes sense Teck, thanks....

hood trimmed in black with fuel pressure gauge setup....

didn't do the plug wires, couldn't find my crimpers... I'll do that during the week and try to take a few pics.... next trivial jobs to work on next weekend will be stripping and getting in zinc, fill and trim, the clean doors and fender I have....

I'll get the exhaust done later this week hopefully, and get it thru inspection early next week...

after the exhaust, which shouldn't be very pricey, the next big expenditure will be a TUBE order... :woot:

EEEK, is this how bad the dash is?
No wonder they had the pad on top.:doah:

Nice progress, looks like its coming together good. Good to hear it is running better too.

:haha: oh yeah..... I've actually had it out already...... I'm definitely in the market for a crack-free one in any color, but black is preferable... the pad lasted a whole 30 seconds....

the truck is improving in leaps and bounds at this point... actually, I stand corrected, the suspension is getting a workover before the tube order...

Crap....that reminds me...before long I got to order a new dash pad too...a real replacement dash pad...not one of those thin covers...

eh, it's WAY down the priority list for me... I'm not overly concerned with the interior at this point... but man, I hate red, blue or white interiors... :sign19:

I've done my own recovers and dye jobs in the past... I'll just wait and see what comes up....

I actually LIKE the look of my carpet style formed dash cover in my burb. Kinda takes the mild shine away that is there with the factory dash.

You can't even order a death proof duck. It's backordered. I just tryed. I would.rock one of those in a heartbeat.

just realized today there's a 93% chance I'll be squirtin paint on this rig outdoors at the marina... like I would a boat.... :haha:

back seat is gone for good in prep for Malachi's arrival later in the summer...

I would swap it for the front one, as that ones not torn like the front one.. I think they interchange if ya swap the brackets over.... but I can't be bothered as I remembered today how much I hate bench seats.... I'll go buckets/console at the first chance...
