Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

oh... just a build note... after looking at the front... I decided to reinstall/re-engineer the sway bar after the lift/x-over.... I have a few idea's for it, but the x-over needs to go in and be finalized first before i put it back in..

giving myself a headache shopping external fuel pumps for the new fuel tank... :doah:

looks like I may be running a Carter.. i can get the marine version of the same pump dirt cheap thru work... gonna change the filter over to a spin-on set up from the factory inline also.

No! External fuel pumps bad! And Loud! And Bad!

Look into a TJ sway bar. It basically a straight bar with 90*s towards the axle. Could probably easily be adapted around the steering with some fab on the housing and long links to connect.

plenty of externals that are pretty quite these days.. that one I posted for one is pretty damn quite...

f*ck that in tank bs... I'd take a bit of noise anyway for the stupid simple servicability of a frame mount over the in-tank any day...

well, your gonna see this rig coming down the road fo sure..... :haha:

first gallon of Ryoken Red...

probably... red's are always the most expensive.. it's actually 226 a gal for the paint... 50 for hardener and 10 for a qrt of reducer..

oh, keep in mind, that's single stage.. whole different kettle of cribbage than basecoat when it comes to pricing...

oh, btw... more build notes...

I figured out what my seats will be.. I'm ordering the same exact color layout/materials as my K5 seats, but I'm getting the Daily Driver for the Mutt...

so these

in this fabric combo.. and 2" wider and 4" taller...

I may even use those temporarily to build seat brackets too... going out to my steel guy tomorrow for some tubebed angle mount stuff and square tube for the seat brackets....

oh, and that obviously means I intend to swap the Mutt's interior to maroonless.... dammit....

No reclining option on the Mutt seats? :dunno:

I sure would miss that on my DD. My back just can't take the same spot all the time. Too many years roofing, I think.

nah, cuz I'm gonna end up with a dividing wall between the front and back at some point.. ya know, the whole, secure dog gig... so unfortunately that's not an option..

with the DD, I'll just retain the factory seat belts probably.. sheesh, another thing I need to find in black... :doah: :haha: I actually need to go down and figure out what i can dye, etc on the interior, plan of attack....

can you show me a closeup of your K5's bed seam seal joints? Like particularly around the wheel housing to the bedside :ears: that icon looks like a yellow Obama

my quote

Gold Base = 227.70
Reducer= 30.35
Catalyzer= 32.77
------------------
$290.82

That's not overly anal neat...if I do say so...I think that's what my old seam sealer looked like...
Don't know why I was thinking it was a perfect crisp line that looks like seat piping....
