Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I had never thought of painting the windshield on the inside...how do you get it to show though the embedded tinted visor strip in the windshield?
for many decades that is how signs were painted on glass though...particularly gold leaf...go to any old courthouse and all the glass doors have the signage painted on..

well, Mutt doesn't have much in the way of tint up there.. but you have to lighten up the color a tad if needed.. i'll have to do a test spot...

the blue Chevelle I post pics of, I did the back window with a bowtie emblem in the graphics color of the car, than sprayed tint clear over the top of that.. all from the inside, tho I had the glass out making it 1000x's easier.. it looked pretty amazing once installed.. I also did similar on a few buds cars back in the day..

thanks boys!

Mutt did about 300 miles today and performed flawless.. 75 mph on the parkway and handles great...

need to get that back axle shimmed right tho.. when I put the coals to it from a traffic light and wrap the axle a bit, she gets a bit of vibration.. drive it sane and she does fine... next weeks project maybe.. that'll also drop the back an inch and move the axle forward an inch.

but the next serious funding goes to tube... :woot:

Cool

it's not that the leafs are wrapping so much as the pinion angle is beyond atrocious, and that bit of wrap just put's it over the edge...

eventually it will get an antiwrap system, more than likely when I do the air bags for it.. but for now, it just needs a decent angle back there...

ahh i understand now. :thumb:

they are ORD's HD's.. so a 1/2" over stock... it's amazing how much better the truck rides and handles since the new suspension..

no work for Mutt this weekend, relax time for Ryoken..

gonna order a shim for the back this week to get a decent angle back there.. also hopefully some door parts... than on the 17th I should be putting in a tube order...

ok, I had Scott do the sticker in a font referred to as "rubber stamp"

i don't think that one is going to work well for creating a cutout stencil due to the crazy edges..

so I'm looking for font suggestions from my more computer savvy brothers.. I've always kinda liked comic sans, tahoma and jester, but am open to all suggestions...

here's what Jester looks like, not sure I like it for this app..

I've always liked the comic sans too!

And what kind of mileage did you get out of your 300 mile trip?

I just filled up BART and got 8.2, mostly back and forth to work, but I think highway mileage for me is worse than back and forth to work is...no OD....yet!

I didn't check, but I'd guess about 12.. maybe 11... it does ok.. my biggest issue these days is I can only use the one tank, so it only has about an 18 gal capacity...

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm looking forward to the next update.

THat's funny. I was so busy looking at the blown 8100 (or std BBC converted to DIS) that I didn't even notice the duck until you mentioned it.
