Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Yeah, It's really not an argument. If you're going to drive it's nice not having to stop an get gas. Plus less stopping saves gas, and I have a 39 gal tank too.:waytogo:

so what are your thoughts on the pro'/cons of going with an in-tank pump versus an in-line pump in the frame rail when i loose the stock tank/pump to go to fuel cell in bed?

The intank pumps run cooler, quieter, and as a result are more reliable. Sure its pain in the ass change out in tank pumps but there's a reason every car manufacturer uses intank pumps.

i just wanted to figure out a way to make it simple to service... but doing a full blown custom, it'll be easy peezy to make it accessible with a top loader access plate.... I'll also be going with a fancy marine level indicator for it...

Im assuming his power is out and is working non stop at the marina. I imagine it looking like those awful pics they show on the news of boats piled up on the road way and stuff. Just hoping him and his house made it.

yup, Mutt's been on marina duty... need to get a front shaft in her. also wanna square away a fuel pressure issue... I've basically been living out of the rig the last week... :doah::haha:

no tube work till spring, gonna be geared up, tube pile ready come march tho! she may be getting a new long block too in the spring at some point... lot's o' OT coming up! :woot:

Just saw the update on the other thread......

Glad you are safe and I was actually looking for the update on your condition not the mutt's

Hang in there, and many offers of help here so just let us know whatever you need.

thanks.... :D

yeah, it's an opportunity to get the shop in shape I figure.. be more productive down there... need to get to the shaft and pressure issue asap tho.. don't want any issues lingering come really cold weather with the DD...

am I correct in guessing the older 77 SM465 under my bench is a different spline count than the 1989 465 in Mutt?

what yr range would be the same as Mutt?

I'm trying to obtain a second box, that I can rebuild on the side... than throw it in with a new clutch/flywheel at some point...

Yep a 77 is gonna be a course 10 spline out. 89 is a 32 fine spline and much better.

If you find a 208/241 or round pattern 205 behind a sm465 its 32spline fine thread.

yeah, mines a round 205... didn't realize the fines went that far back...

the rig has been performing flawlessly, the ride is awesome..

at least Mutt is in "free fuel" mode, getting filled at the marina pumps a couple days a week..

ordering a Walbro 255 for it tomorrow..

if you have a way to get it manchildau65 did a 4500 swap in his truck and last i know has the 46 and adaptor sitting in his garage . its a 32 spline unit.

and another member here has a blazer gate i can use up here for a friends blazer.
