Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

for some reason i'm just now noticing the grille. its beautiful, with all blacked out like that. never even considered it.

thanks... :D

yeah, that was a brand new grill.. first I did it backwards.. charcoal center, and all black around the lights.. it was ok, but was just off.. reversed it, and now it looks pretty badarse imo.. subtle..

but I dig the orange shadowed emblem.. that worked well I think.. it compliments the mallard well... :pimp:

now I just gotta hope that look ends up working on the window sticker too..

well, at least with that mad max fest in the back it'll have earned the window saying! :woot: :dunno: :haha:

Could you carry the tubework all the way over the top and place your light bar closer to the front, or would that be gay? :dunno:

kind of merge it into a nice utility rack

yeah.. that's the obvious thought...

I did constimpate it a bit...

you could easily extend the "C" hoop forward a solid 4' and hold a ton of weight... you could go to the windshield..

but than you'd be into the "bad idea to walk to the front without having exo'd tube feet up front somewhere" kinda issue...

than where do you stop?

you could do it... do a low walled cargo holder type of look...... .

but honestly.. I don't want/need that storage.. I think it would start to get it too much of a "cluttered, illegal landscaping/plumber rig.." look about it... I like the cab lines...

and obviously, you could add some bolt on thing down the road too to the already existing hoop...

I really want a badarse towlight tho... :haha: either a slim hi-techy or preferably a vintage spinner classicy one... I've seen em for like $300....

You'd have to get it just right proportionately...but I think the lightbar should be centered above the front doors...right above your head...

and anything black looks great on that truck...so a black bar or basket would look great up there...

either way...you will never get it in your garage again...:haha:

maybe you could do a large "C" hoop and put all kinds of lights including spotlights all the way around it...light up the dark like a ufo :eek1:

use aircraft landing lights...dang those are bright white!

it don't fit now, it's too long.. :doah: but if I go to 6"s of lift and 37's, I wont get in the door.. :doah::haha:

I feel like satin would look way cleaner than Dimond plate.

I know.. dp is just cheesy.. such a played look..

the burnish alum bolt-in panels? gawwwd dammmm it should be pretty righteous looking... hopefully I can just get 2 sheets of alum... that's pushing a grand..

I'm so leaning towards smooth dull.... when I break my neck next winter I'll regret saying that.. :doah: :haha:

sheesh, I can't imagine what that would add to the cost of a $450 4 x 8... :eek1: :haha:

even the smaller individually cut panels would be a huge pain to do it to.. I wouldn't trust myself! :haha:

my retired welder bud does that stuff...

starting to put together the materials tomorrow for the rear x-member/winch mount...

I really just want Kert's inboarded rolling chassis at this point.... (hint hint wink wink)

$480? how thick is that and where you getting it? that sounds real expensive if its just aluminum sheet

yup... it'll be the very last thing.... it's a dually, I've been driving around 2 yrs without a spare now... :haha:

Ooooph. What's a 37" spare weigh?

Almost make sense to make a winch and boom setup.

probably in the 100 to 120 range..

I wont care.. like I said, I think it's the kinda thing that'll never come down..

the other thing is, if I could actually get the 37's setup from Kert, I think the front and back spare need to be different anyway.. :haha: being the fronts are srw instead of flipped drw's...

still worth it imo.. but if your gonna carry a spare, it'd be for one of the fronts.. you could run on 3 rears...

I bet you could come up with a pretty neat boom setup.. another piece of DOM,hinged so it folds flat against the angle down tube when not in use..

I'm gonna be running the same style winch I have for the K5.. XP9000 between the rear rails..

Some of my military trucks have manual boom and winch setups for moving those big ass Michelins and Goodyears. Makes moving those big 54" spares off the roof a LOT easier.
