Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

:doah:

hadn't even considered that! :haha:

I think it'll do the rig good tho... gotta plant that meat.. :pimp:

only thing I wanna make sure is that I can swap it over to dizzle down the road...

one thing I just realized tonight in my effervescent stoopidity is that I keep talking about eventually going 6BT in this...

when in reality, I'm not sure how I can sorta/kinda make that legal/drivable in new nazey.... dizzles over 8500, no emissions, etc.. no sticker.. my bosses furd runs around with no sticker..

but my VIN comes up as a gasser... not that it'd happen anytime soon in the slightest... I'm prolly a solid 4 or 5 yr's out on that minimum... but it did just dawn on me..

Just buy a vin tag and title from a crusty diesel.

Martin

Wouldn't work, they go by the door sticker. On the other hand, when they heard my diesel pull up they didn't even ask what the weight limit was. They just told me to leave. You could get lucky.

I'm not actually concerned about the inspection stations, I just wouldn't go.. I haven't been to a state inspection center in 25+ yr's... I refuse to go to those powertripping Nazi's, I usually hit up my local gas station and pay the $80...

it's more if a cop see's this over the top rig without a sticker on the window, and decides to pull me over... sure, if he walks up and hears a dizzle running, Id probably be ok.. but, I'm not sure if that's an easy "tell" for him by just running the VIN # on the registration..

I'm not concerned about GVW.. I actually pay the extra money to have the rig reg'd at like 9200 to cover my butt with maximum tire size......

well, from a quick look at the NJ reg's in my rigs, they don't blatantly list gas vs dizzle as far as I can tell...

I read into this when I was going to put that om617 in the trooper. I basically came to the conclusion that I know its legally acceptable to put a gasser in a diesel truck so why not the other way? Also even if you do go for emissions I dont think they read into the reg at all for the engine type. And being that everything we're talking about is pre 96 they can plug a computer into and say holy **** thats not right.

Basically they need to assess when they start the inspection what fuel type the vehicle is.

the other potential solution to the issue when it comes, is to reg the rig commercial... which may very well happen anyway if I get into hauling, yada... think that solves any inspection issue...

Cops key in on the inspection sticker and expired ones are like a red flag. I kept forgetting to remove my old sticker and was pulled over 4 times in the past year and a half, twice by troopers and twice by locals. The troopers and one cop ended the stop as soon as they got close enough to hear the diesel. Told me I was stopped for the sticker and said have a nice day w/out even asking for my license. 4th cop accepted it when I told him diesels were exempt and let me go after checking my DL and reg. I haven't been stopped once since I took the the sticker off.

I don't think you'll have any problems if/ when you go to diesel. I'm sure most cops will know by then.

cool, thanks for the real world input.. :waytogo:

now.... if I ran stacks.......

wouldn't happen in a million yr's..... :haha:
