Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Paul I usually get my wire on e bay 2 .030 10 lb spools for 36 bucks. Free shipping. It's good wire feeds nice.

Anyway I concur with the tube fully supporting the side boxes. Never know when some crazy might ask you to head to Baja to be a support truck. Cause I think Mutt would work well as one.

I am glad you are trying to keep track of weight. I was planning on 2" like you but I may go to a thinner wall where I can. It's good info to know.

BTW I like the different sizes of tube

more build musings....

so... I probably really need 2 and a 1/2, 4' x 8' alum sheets for the panels.. that SHOULD do all the smooths.. should... than I was gonna get a 4 x 4 of diamond plate for the coffin floor.. tho technically, I only probably need 30' x 4'.....

so.. being I'm not 100% on 2 1/2 sheets doing the smooths, and i'll get an exponentially better price for 3 full sheets, as opposed to 2, I'm just gonna get 3 sheets of smooth.. and no dp at this time... i'll do the coffin floor in smooth for now... if it's a slip issue, I'll put some grip tape on it or something....

hmmmmmm, maybe cut a rectangle of the rubber bedmat stuff and lay it in there... tthat may work very very well....

than later on if I feel it's needed, I can always unbolt it, and change it out for dp....

new spool obtained.. depot discontinued it, so I ran over to my argon guy...

working today and, playing cards tomorrow, but I'll be back at it early sunday...

Let me know if you need another engine hoist to get that out of the garage. I have one w/ folding legs I could bring over.

thanks! :D

yeah, my current one is the folding leg type... I think I'm good.. when the time comes, I have enough guys who owe me favors from the marina to stop by and help get it out the door and on Mutt..

I think with 4 dudes, the hoist wont even be needed.. hopefully... :haha:

I see now why you went with the smaller tube, I thought all the other stuff was 1.75, 2" everywhere would be pretty large. It definitely looks good the way you got it.

thanks..

I actually didn't have a 1.75 die till last week.. all my stuff was always 2", or 1.5".... the only 1.75 I ever ran where the 2 seat bars in the K5 and they where straight across..

but now I can bend all 3 for any future products.. :woot:

alrighty, down to work.. wanna see about getting the ds caught up to the ps today...

got my package from kert today too, so I'm set to do the spare tire mount when I'm done with the lower stuff...

Looking good man!

for what it's worth, I think you should pay a kid to record you getting that thing out of the garage. lol

:haha:

I'll try to get a clip of it.. or at least a couple pics mid-door.. :doah:

thing is, f*ck it :haha:, I'm committed, gonna fully weld the outer tube stuff tomorrow... :pimp: I'll just leave the toolbox tubes tacked...

yeah, if worst comes to worst and it just won't come out, you could always cut off the roll bar hoop and put discos on it. :)

I would say just make the garage door bigger and strap that thing to the ceiling and back the mutt under it. :D

oh, you know if it doesn't fit, the first thing I'll be doing is breaking out the demo bar and popping all the door casings, trim and such!!! :haha:

eh, I think it'll go....... gonna just put it on the ground at a 45 degree angle and drag it out the door... easy peezy... :haha:

it's just stooopid to not put the hr's in now, in the shop... heck, if I had the alum and toolboxes, I could FINISH the fab work..

tomorrow I'll burn that stuff in.. maybe a bit of green on it...

than get started on the spare tire mount... tho I really need to take a front tire off to make sure that's gonna fit just right... not sure how feasible that'll be over the next few days with eleventy feet of snow...

What you didnt steal a shrinking flame thrower for clearing the yard???

:weld:

no propane.... :haha:

eh, if I get bored, I'll put it on a stand and take it off..

welding the underside stuff.... all of it.. toolbox tubes and all...

as you can see, flipping it over is no longer an option.... :haha:
