Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

I don't get it.. how do those work?

remember I'm trying to keep the total caster height at 6"..

I know some of the wheel locks aren't spectacular, but I figured they would hold well enough to keep it from rolling around when bashing on it...

the ones on my snappy box work like a mofo...

hmmm, I would say that would be a killer idea, like 1 in the middle at each end.. if I wasn't doing the adjustable leg deal... neat item tho, never seen em.. :D

here is one of the drawer units I'm looking to run...

15" w x 12" D x 5" H

and than ditch these goofy partitions, and just run however many new strip steel dividers I want in it instead....

there are 2 of those available..

I like em. They will be great for putting the smaller stuff for measuring and such away. Mine always end up getting scattered about in the tool box.

my sharpies, rulers, squares and tape measures end up all over the shop.. on the workbench, on the blast cab, the floor, etc.. :doah:

I like that one for one narrow end, but I'm kinda looking for similar on the other end, but with one 4 or 5" deep drawer, as opposed to 2 shallow ones.. for slightly larger things.. often used handtools, etc..

well, struck out with Fazio cutting that 1' x 4' off that 3/8 sheet... they only chopsaw schtuff...

gonna have to do it myself... I'm thinking the circ saw, a couple fresh carbides and 45 minutes of my time... :doah: :haha:

I'll have to look it up at work tomorrow. We use locking casters on our mobile X-ray tables that weigh 600 lbs empty with a 500lb patient capacity. They work well and roll real nice.

it's a whole subject unto itself apparently! :haha:

mang, not to go even more off topic here, but instead of clogging up Kain's thread, I'll just mention in here that I've been an utter basketcase tonight... Mutt's been the last thing on my mind..

sis just got out of 4 hr's of spine/back surgery in her neck.. was supposed to be 2.. 4 f*cked discs, 2 where really f*cked up.. but the surgeon is happy with the results... says the spine pressure was relieved, etc... now I can actually get to sleep...

Wow dude, glad she's doing ok. Hopefully she heals up quick and the surgery fixes the problems she was having!:waytogo:

thanks man... :D yup, crazy chit... never had an ounce of back problems.. and woke up f*cked one morn, couldn't move her arm... doesn't do anything, so they figure it may have been a bit of a hereditary issue... she had NO choice, it was way serious...

she saw the surgeon and he freaked.. was like, "we're scheduling this for tomorrow." there was definitely some risks involved.. gonna try to get up to the hosp in a day or 2.. it's about 3 hr's from here...

anyway, hopefully I'll be going tomorrow morn for alum and steel... probably wont be able to start working on it till tues-ish tho, it's supposed to be stoopid cold over the weekend...

well, the bad news is, with ferrying my parents to and fro to the hospital, I'm gonna to need to wait till next week to pick up metal..

the good news is, I'll be able to get all of it.. what I need to finish Mutt.. AND all the welding table materials...

it's quite the list... here's what I printed out this morn....

edit* stoopid forum wont show it with proper spacing.. oh well, you get the idea.. lines added to help..

Best wishes for a good recovery for your sis! Mutt and all of us will still be here when your back.

thanks.. :D

I was just thinking on my way home from filling up about a tentative Mutt schedule... I think it's VERY realistic for me to think that I'll have all the panels done, lights installed, and the upper 4 toolboxes done by May 1.... pretty easily hopefully...

I figure worst case it takes me till the end of march to fit up all this alum... I'll order the boxes in early march sometime.. and if I can get them and have em in the rig by the end of april, i'll be content..

now, that's not including the 2 lower box setup's.. but I'll see how that falls into place over the next few months.. if the upper box prices are good, i'll try to order them in march too..

the main goal is to get what I have so far, thru completion going into the summer... I can add the lowers after the fact..

thanks Eric.. :D going up first thing in the morn.. just got off the phone with her.. surprised she was able to talk.. they go thru the throat for this gig and said she would have trouble talking for awhile... my sis is amazing and it had me scared to death....

and yup, pretty good list.. wish it was more! ;) :haha:

I didn't get prices on everything, but I'm guessing all of that will be like $1200, 1250 or so.. 750 for the alum, 200 for the rest of Mutts stuff and the 3/8 plate.. couple hundy for the rest and taxes..

I also want to pick up a good alum cutting blade for the circ saw and maybe the casters for the table..... that should be about another $ hundy...

oh, question for the masses.. how big are the standard hitch pins for receivers? the 45 degree angle deals.. 1/2" right?
