Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

figures.. been sitting on my arse for 3, 4 weeks now, get TON's of material yesterday, and now they want me fiberglassing down at the boat factory next week for extra sick/vacay time... told em I'd give em tue, wed, thurs...

probably going back fulltime mar 15, so I'm gonna try to get as many days in the LAB™ that I can till than.. would love to have the majority of the alum fit by than..

Ryoken - upstairs typing while the bandsaw is downstairs chewing up 3 x 3 x 1/4.... :pimp:

ok, back on track...

tomorrow I start fitting these up, 1" x 2" x 1/8" supports for under the alum...

ignore how they are currently sitting on top of the tubes... they will be fishmouthed to sit under the tube.. from flush on bottom to 1/2 way up the tube... the same level the panel mount tabs will be...

it will also be getting a series of this type support under the coffin floor.. tho those wont be laying down, they will stand up cuz the floor will sit on top of the lower coffin tubes, flush... and there will more of it, mainly due to the removable gooseneck section..

:haha:

unintended... :doah: this project is pretty self-explanatory and not thrilling...

I just thought notching the rectangle was neat... hadn't done that before....

Ryoken - done for the day after ripping his pinkie nail off with the 24 grit on the belt sander... :doah: now where'd I put that bourbon?

"done for the day after ripping his pinkie nail off with the 24 grit on the belt sander"

Jesus... just made my body shiver reading that. I think I would need something more than Bourbon to help with that one. Doesn't NJ have medical happy smoke :-)

thanks boys.... was hoping to save a tad bit of work and cut down some 2" x 4" slider schtuff I had kicking around to do 3 of the sides, but alas, it was too narrow..

this makes rounding edges easy peezy...

tho, as Stomis can attest to, the belt on it is pathetically destroyed/worn.. heck, I had to tear it down to half width to run it.. :haha:

I ordered new ones from eghey like 3 weeks ago, and apparently the USPS machines ate them em up cuz they are in limbo in Ohio for 10 days now.. I b*tched at the vendor like 5 days ago.. we'll see.. I REALLY could have used those fresh 24 gritter's today...

my argon guy gave me a smoking deal on some 7" 16 grit fiber discs today... buck a piece.. so I stocked up with 10...

I really really hate you right now belt sander!! :doah:

Told my wife about your finger nail...she was shuddering after I finished shuddering and said what you did! :haha:

:haha:

that be the culprit... :doah:

it actually didn't sand it off, I slipped and smacked the finger into it sideways.. it was so gritty, it grabbed the nail and basically ripped it off.. it's hangin on by the one side cuticle, so I pushed it back down and wrapped it up... it's not long for this world..

throbbing like a sumb*tch now.. need another cocktail, or eleventy...

trust me, it's just for visual/guilt effect :haha:, every bit of a 1/2 pint in there.... and that's #2, of, well, until the 1500 jug runs out.. :pimp: :haha:

on a build note, I did finish fitting the 6 support pieces... :pimp: next on the list is cutting alum.... as soon as I can find space in the LAB™ to lay a 4' x 8' down.... :doah: :haha: quite cluttered in there these days...

I did the exact same thing on a belt sander one time in high school. It did not feel nice.

I drink my Jack & Diet Pepsi out of cup just like that:waytogo:

I should correct myself..... diet coke... ;) was doing jack and gingers for awhile, but have switched back..

Tore off the pinky nail?! Geez, that made me cringe.

I was highly surprised.. it caught the knuckle a bit, but I knew something else was going on, than I saw the blood welling up under the nail and realized it would pretty much lift totally off... I figured I was better off putting it back in place and letting it stabilize/heal a bit underneath first.. it'll discard the nail on it's own... :doah: :haha:

decided to delay going down to the boat factory for a day, give it a day to calm down... throw in it's playing with fiberglass, thinner, etc work... :doah: and the 12 degree temps too... I'll go down tomorrow...

so instead I'm driving up to Fazzio today to get the steel I need for Mutt and the fab table....

also ordered the black allens for the alum this morn..

My brother in law was grinding a piece of metal on a belt sander, the metal caught and yanked his index and middle finger in between the guard and the belt. Ground down through the meat and bone. Now he has two stubs.
Pretty funny when he flips me off though.
