Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

he!!, Speedhole Mike showed at the LAB™ one day, and he's from the best coast... :eek1: :haha:

for as content, and happy as I am to actually be out driving Mutt kinda on/ahead of schedule, it motivates me even more to get the rest done.. so people see the whole brain pic... :pimp:  :woot: :haha:

the sideboxes and spare are just gonna add soooooooooooooo much to it all...

That is awesome that it gets that much attention for all your hard work.

Mutt is over the top cool.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

thanks... :D it's a bit different with you guys.... you guys are truck builders too, look at ton's of projects, etc, and are harder to impress....

Joe the average plumber down the street, not so much.. :haha:

I just didn't realize the attention the rig was gonna garner... :doah: it's a bit over the top compared to what I expected... I just wanna drive the rig I envisioned.. if peope like it, cool....

I didn't realize I was gonna come out of the store to a circle of fans or something... :haha:

Just make sure you budget an extra 30 minutes every time you drive it so you can deal with the adoring fans, the questions, and the autograph and photo-seekers!!!! :haha:

Well deserved praise my friend. :waytogo::bow:

Well deserved Indeed! I have had a couple random people tell me how nice my burb is and it's a head swelling thing. Makes me feel proud that some random person that doesn't know anything about trucks can say how nice mine is. So I kinda know the feeling, although not to the extent you get!

thanks bruthas, preciate that, big time....

in some weird way, I kinda feel guilty in bringing Mutt back out without some of the finishing touches... but my selfishness, missing driving it, and the mallard taunting me in my dreams, overrode that... :doah: :screwy:

it looks like I'll probably have the spare mounted before the sideboxes... but stay tuned folks, progress be a comin.... ;) :deal:

I don't know how much $$$$ you got it in so far, but isn't it cool to drive something that is even cooler than a $100,000 truck new off the lot?

Blood, sweat and tears is the cost...but you are rewarded every time you drive it.

I will remind everyone that Mutt was born a CHEVY....before his change :haha::haha::haha:

oh, just for the record...

not replying to anything in this thread is no big deal.. seriously, thanks for just looking.. :D

the fact I see you reading/looking at this thread is all that matters.. I know who you are... :waytogo:  something you might build/need, probably not, but having an interest/respect for it is all that matters to me..

I also know the people that NEVER EVER come in this thread, for whatever reason.. hate me, the concept, whatev's... I could name names, but f*ck em... :flipoff13: build sumfin better muthasf*cka's.. :dunno:

hadn't added it up... :doah:

umm, let's do that, now that you mention it.. :haha:

2 g's for the rig.. 1800 to ship.. we'll throw away the initial 1200 for tires... and say 900 for Baja's... roughly 2 g's to kert for axle, suspension, rims, tabs and such.... another 2 g's for DOM and alum.. $175 for a mallard.. 1300 for boxes still to show...... paint, primer, mechanicals, I don't know a g, 1500, let's say 2 g's? I think that's like 11, 12 g's..

fuel tank, etc to come..

eleventy hundred hr's of labor? :doah:

a f*ckton of fun to drive and a pile of people that think it's kinda cool and different? = priceless..

I admit to just lurking, I don't think I have posted anything, but I can tell you, between this thread and the Blazer, I have spent LITERALLY hours reading. And I'm sure I'll spend a few more. I'm grateful for the way you document everything for us, I know you probably aren't always in the mood to do so.

I have yet to start my build (although the lift kit has arrived, so it will be soon). I'm going to tackle my very own single stage paint job on it, thanks to a lot of what you have been posting.

Be warned however, there may be questions incoming. :D

Thanks again, it's brought me a lot of enjoyment.

thanks man... :D I see you reading the threads, and any way you think I can be a help at all, just PM me... :waytogo:

that post was more a poke at the longtimers in the forum I KNOW, never read this thread... :tongue1: I'm not looking for praise or something, it was just a recognition of the people who actually go thru the trouble to look at my stuff...

I certainly don't think all builds should be like mine.. I've done budget builds, etc too... but since a teen, I always have an emphasis on making things last...

and I don't care if people particularly like the build.. it's not a hubcapped, 2-tone wheeler, but... I read ALL new replies.. :dunno: even builds that don't suit my fancy...

out of respect, I suppose..

and I KNOW the members who NEVER read my build threads... guess I kinda bring that out in people.. :doah: oh well, too bad.. :(

I always hope that my ideas/builds/work practices could help most in some small way or another.. but I suppose some are just above me...

It's helping me or possibly making my crew cab build more expensive not sure which yet I will let ya know when I start

Though I agree with the documentation I rarely take progress pics. It's cool you take the time to take pics

You only paid 2 grand for that to start? That's a pretty good deal.
I wish I could find a crew dually for that.

I certainly have my moments where I'm better, or worse with documenting.... :doah: :o I try to keep you guys in mind... but as most know, in the heat of a crazy weekend day, it's often one you forget..

the fact that anything I'm building helps a fabber/wheeler like you, means a ton..

my apologies for promoting more spending from my tight-budgeted friends.. trust me, I do sympathize... it's something the 20 yr old in me always wanted to do... and I'll spend 22 hr's of my hard earned pay to do it... :doah: :doah:

thanks to Issam!!!! yup, clean cali rig... very minor rocker rust..

454 had no oil pressure, but it's ok with a high volume pump in it now.. bit ticky, but hey, it romps ok for an aneimic TBI BB.. :haha: ;)

as a resto/collision guy, NO body project scares me, qrters, etc, but as all would agree, it's nice to start with a solid platform... :woot:

should be getting the roof stripped and in RR and new roof lights on in a couple months... next major body fab will be the custom kennel/floor/gangplank work...

and my apologies to anyone I offended in the previous posts.... but if you're reading this, it really shouldn't have been offensive...

to those that can't be bothered to see what I have to offer to the square-body world, the previous sentiment applies... :flipoff7:
