Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Hey, it's better than what I had going on last week....trying to crank my old oem radio loud enough to hear Sammy Davis Jr. belt out "Candyman"....and I was unsuccessful...not enough power to overcome the wind...:haha:

Now, that said I thought this was kind of funny....my boss was talking today about how good gator and snake meat was...I don't do reptile...but he asks "so what is you favorite? I said, "If a cow could mate with a Grouper that would be my favorite meat". :haha:

amplifier's make the world a better place...

my Sony has like 4 watts, could use some oooomph, but if I turn it to 11, it get's me going...

today's morning ride was

Naw, feel free to post. Some of us may like it, but don't expect to get raving reviews.
I'm kind of give a bland review of things and it gets me into trouble.
I don't want to seem like a raving fan girl which come naturally since I'm guy.
You just have to get by with grunts.

that's fine.. nobody gives any respect to that band.. and f*ck em as far as I'm concerned.. that's kinda why I post it.. ;)

sh*t dog's most stuff people listen to, from country, to death metal...

I don't expect people to come in with "oh, that sh*t rocks, etc" but I hope in the end, someone, someone.. may give em a listen.. just like I turned a couple folks in here on to Kings X..

anyway.. enough of my inspirational stuff... hopefully I can do some urban crawlin in the morn...

King's X is a hard act to follow...Out of the Silent Planet and Gretchen Goes to Nebraska are way, waaaaaay up there in the best rock albums of all time....:eek1:

Gretchen just kills it.... top 10 album for me, no doubt.. with any Sab, Zep, Ted, etc.... Christian rock, blah, blah, blah...

one of the most talented rock trio's ever.. any real musician, knows.... the greatest rock band, who never was.... :(

the title of Black Sabbath meets the Beatles, is a hard title to live up to...

I saw them live at Club Levella in Panama City Beach sometime in the early 1990's...friend of mine was their lighting director at the time...

:D

cool.. :waytogo:

I've seen them quite a few times live.. they generally sound like the albums... Doug is just way beyond talented... all of em... I have pro musician friends, who just know...

those guys where just above the norm when it came to skill..

a couple slower, gritty later fave's of mine...

if you don't "get" the soul, of those songs... :dunno: my sympathies...

I know most builds don't really increase the value of the truck to anyone but the one building it, but you have greatly increased the resale value $ $ of this one. I know the value $ probably doesn't come close to the amount of hours you spent, but damn that truck looks good:waytogo: I love it..

thanks bud.... :D

as everyone can imagine, it's built strictly for me... heck, when the kennel is done, talk about an owner specific vehicle! :haha: tow/service/kennel rig... :pimp:

eh, value.. who knows... I'll never sell.. but let's say when fully done, nice Cummins/manny drivetrain, finished paint job, lightbar, etc, etc... my daughter might get, :dunno: 20 g's for it when I'm worm food? :doah: :doah:  :haha:

when in reality.. it'll probably have 25, 30 g's in parts/materials (11, 12 now), and 5000 hr's of my time.... :pimp:  :doah: :haha:

oh, and other than working on those 2 front corner panels and maybe smacking the little white ball around this weekend, I think I'll get the front Razor cover on the 60...

iirc, it's painted already... not critical, but may as well match the rear one.. and I'm sure most of my upcoming weekends will be quite full, so might as well git-r-dun now.....

I'd have listened to some of that crazy chick rock in middle school when I was big into rage and all that heavier stuff and also some terribly awful garbage. Green River was one of my more obscure go to grungey rock bands.

It's funny you threw Zep in there with Metallica. Zep has some of my favorite tunes and I listen to them all the time, but from a way more mellow side of things. I listen to a ton of cream, bowie, kinks, zombies and other straight up rock and roll these days.

My last job I had for about a decade and I drove 55-60,000 miles a year which caused me to stop listening to music.
Now I don't have a working radio in either of my K5's. Hell, I don't even listen to music at the gym when I am lifting.
I got used to listening to other things. Whether it be the engine, the open road, or just my thoughts.
I sure like some good music but even now in the garage I don't listen to it. I dunno, it stopped motivating me. Nowadays I can fall asleep listening to heavy metal or anything else.
It is weird but I enjoy it. On the plus side, it also gives me time to figure stuff out, make plans, and to keep in touch with family.
As far as the gym goes, I figure that in real life I won't have a soundtrack when I really need my muscle so why become dependent on something to pump me up. I know this isn't the norm as I get a lot of strange looks at the gym because I have no headphones. But I enjoy it.
That all being said, your build and your vision is awesome. You are right in that not everyone can agree on what you are doing would work for them or please them, but screw it. Do what you like, love what you do, work harder than the rest, and forget the haters.
Keep up the good work.

now I just need to fab/build the hinged doors....

these things are built like Snappy KRL drawers, brick sh*thouse....... each unit weighs like 50 lb's... :eek1:

my only issue at this point is the whole top being open, and no dividers...

I think I'm gonna have my fuel tank guy modify them... TIG in some nice dividers... and also, TIG in a top to the outer box/frame, so they aren't open.... which the obvious issue is water/road grime, etc getting up in there.. but also, things IN the drawers bouncing around and over and OUT the top... tho, it is conceivable to seal them to the underside of the top deck.. it is only about a 1/2" or so gap...

I think a nice piece of alum tack welded on top of the drawer to the outer "box" will take care of that nicely tho.. I'll see...

it'll be a while till these are in.. need the alum welding to fab the doors, which act as spacers for mounting the drawers.. so it's an all-in-one kinda deal...
