Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

What's going to be his official name since he'll be papered?

My Dalmatian was Mr. Mojo Risin'. I figured someone had to resurrect ole Jim.:saweet:

I just called him Joe. God I loved that dog, he focking hated the ex, tried to bite her everyday.

I've seen some pretty wild paper names.

hmmmm, I hadn't even contemplated it at all since I'm not gonna show/breed him.... :haha:

got a few months to come up with somefin I suppose...

Yeah man! If he's gonna be papered you need to give him a true title worthy of his heritage. Maybe a little German, some Chevrolet reference, throw in some awesome band lyric...

thanks guys... silly, but, it is a big deal to me.. it IS why I originally wanted to build a CC...

it's no cheap endeavor fo sure, 1/3 more than I wanted to spend.. but these are serious show dog parents, top of the line stuff... so I'm ok with it, I want a great dog, and this will be a good jumping off point...

I'm sending a deposit check out next week, and will have a firmer date/schedule in a week or so too.. cutting my initial, free, training time a bit short with a feb date before I go back to work.. but I'll manage...

now I just have to curtail my compunction to spend the next 3, 4 months doing a whole new floor, kennel, new seats, etc in Mutt...:doah: :haha:

Kids change everything.... :waytogo:

oh, and I'm still torn on the name spelling.. for as "more common", if there is such a thing for this name :haha:, as Malachi is, I'm really leaning toward spelling it Malakai..... the "chi" is just a bit more mistakable for the "Malachi brothers" of Happy Days fame... :haha: I like the kai deal.....

..

Reminds me of my Sr. year in HS, honors english class. Old battle-axe of a teacher has us taking turns reading some story out loud. My turn to read and I get to the name Malachi. Of course I think of Fonzi getting the Malachi Crunch, so I pronounce it "malachee". She starts railing on me in front of the class. She taught my mother, she know my parents taught me better, shame on me for not knowing such a biblical name. "Sorry lady, I haven't memorized every name in the Bible". That was my first trip to the principal's office.:doah:

I guess this is the Mutt's version of going topless?

Malachi Crunch,

I guess this is the Mutt's version of going topless?

where's Pinky!!!!??!!!!!! :saweet: :haha:

you should have seen it yesterday.. every piece of alum was out for a reburnish... pulled plastic over the cab and gave the tubebed a fresh overcoat of satin black to freshen up all the scrapes, etc...

most of it is back together now.. Mutt's looking :pimp: :pimp1: now...

just gotta finish going over the doghouse and lower box alum and install them... also fixed the leak in my spare tire...

I figure if anything the car show will be a good place for me to read my new dog training book.... :haha:

Sorry, what is "sharkhide" exactly? Besides the outermost layer of a shark?

it was more a mental surprise notation to myself that Eastwood was actually the cheapest for a change... :haha:

I didn't do the sharkhide due to time and $$$$ constraints... I also want to prep the back a bit more before I do it...

boy, a fresh wetsand makes the outer side really "pop".... pics later in the week..... also painted the grab/release handles for the extinguishers Ryoken red.. looks slick.... :saweet:

some early week sneak previews of Mutt coming back together....

tanky....

coming out pretty clean... diggin the Ryo red release handles...

got too dark for pics, but I'm stoked on the lower box..... buffed out the interior side of the panels... than I put down a floor of the same rubber bedmat I'm running in the coffin... I'll do pics tomorrow...

I'm truly impressed by how this is all wringing out. It's looking good man, even though I may needle you about updates because you have a life, you still manage to keep up fairly quickly.

thanks boys... :D

just some more random, "going together" shots on the fly...

buffed out box..... the bedmat piece is being scrubbed currently..

more tomorrow.. working on the doghouse currently...

I've been putting a good amount of time in making Mutt look presentable.... I'm not looking to win any trophies or anything.. the rig is far from perfect, it's got it's dings, rot hole in the rocker, sh*tty interior, stock engine, etc....

I'd just like to see it open a few eyes up to what can be made with some imagination and a welder... :dunno: as opposed to what new vehicle you bought (coughchallengerscough), paid a body shop to squirt, or charged/bolted on, from Summit racing...

Beautiful steps, exactly or nearly exactly like I meant. You won't use them too often, but man they will be helpful when you do.
