Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

WTH is this tilt thing you keep talking about. Never lived in a state where you had anything other than emissions testing.

it's a safety, stability test for any truck with more than 4" lift...and I actually think that's legally supposed to be TOTAL lift, including tires... in addition to standard safety/emissions inspection.. 2 seperate stickers...

we've only had "emissions only" for like 5 yr's or maybe a bit longer in this state for regular cars... they used to check EVERYTHING back in the 70's, 80's..... headlight adjustment, front end got lifted to check for loose front end, they brake checked it on an equalization pad, cracked windshields, all lights, etc, etc, etc... including emissions..

wow, I knew they had safety checks back east, but didn't know they looked that hard. Honestly I don't think it would be a bad idea to have 'some' checks out here. Some of the shit I see people doing and driving out here makes me nervous to be on the road w/ them. It's literally like the wild west, esp w/ the cars coming up from mexico...

well, that's kinda the point... peeps in our state always kinda looked at "backwoodsy" kinda places like W.V, etc and considered it kind of hillbilly in that regard... behind the times... whereas Cali was the opposite, rediculously over the top..

but my issue is it went from a safety inspection when I was a kid to a tree hugger ceremony...

well, Mutt's down... sorta....

it developed some erratic metal on metal sound from the back end drivetrain... mostly at lower speeds... not sure at this point if it's out at a rotor/brake/bearing or what..... I can use it in a pinch locally, but I've got the black truck so no point in wrecking parts until I can tear some things apart...

and to be honest, with Kai, going back to work, etc, that could be every bit of 4 to 6 weeks at this point..... I'll update when I get time to look at it.... :(

Dang! Not really the update we were all hoping for, but it happens. We've all been there before sadly

I'm pretty sure you can register at ANY weight you want above stock.... Mutt could have reg'd at like 6200 lb's for cheap (as the girl suggested I do), but I pay more and Mutt is reg'd at 8000 currently.... that legally allows me to run 38's..

I'll be redoing that at a higher weight when I finish the work and tag it commercial for hauling and such...

no dice man. I asked them in 2004 when I first got my truck done through inspection. They go on the VIN tag of your GVRW. Mine states 8400 gvrw camper special. You can "Register" @ 15,000lb if you wish but you still cannot run 38's. I think your blazer will have to run 37's fyi...

also door height...
for me is 38's and 33" to bottom of door

my truck @ stock is supposedly 22" to bottom of door thus their site states 11" over stock including tire height aka 33"

they're all new and seem fine.... it's REALLY random, but very often at low speed.... not gonna worry about it... it drives me nuts not driving the rig, but right now the smart move is just let it sit till I can do a bit of investigating...

and between the pooch, spring rush, getting a fence installed, yada, etc, it's just gonna have to wait a bit...

I got screwed on my disability for the carpal tunnel, so I'm back at work pretty fulltime as of today... wasn't supposed to go back till the 25th... I'm currently out about 3 weeks pay... throw in I got screwed out of 2 weeks of unemployment in jan....

I was classified 'ineligible" and it was sent to the "disability while on unemployment" division.. I guess cuz I was transferring from unenjoyment to disability... so I'll prolly get a check in 4 to 6 weeks or something, but that does me no good for this months rent, etc... I had to borrow 2 g's from my bosses to pay the bills today...

so Mutt is not a super high priority other than my insatiable desire to flog it around town...

I know you need to do yours for your missus..

for me, I'm not worried in the slightest.. Mutt is soooo fuggin bada$$ looking, I'm pretty sure the only reason a cop will pull me over is to check it out... ;)

Mutt's only on 37's anyway... which prolly mesh 36.5.....

oh, completely unrelated..... just had to mention this somewhere in my life that I could without social media repercussions..... :haha:

have I mentioned how hot my lesbian neighbors are? :dunno: :deal:

my neighbor is a woman about 6 or 7 yr's older than me, good friend.. her daughter that lives at home is late 20's. her and her girlfriend are just, ummmmmm.... :haha:

they love Kai and come hang in my backyard while I play fetch with him.....

sigh... :haha:

What's in the rear dif? I can't remember

it's a 4:88 open as far as I know... I'm pretty certain it's not in there.. it's too tinny and loud for that.. it sounds more like something stuck/failing in one of the rear discs setups......
