Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

trying to decide which is worse...... chopping alum and having chaff migrate all over the house/shop, or tablesawing composite... it's literally like running a huge fan in the shop and shaking a 5 lb bag of talcum powder in front of it.... sh*t gets on every square inch of everything...

i think the chaff wins, but both are stooopidly annoying.....

Those will be sweet.

it's hard not to "go off" with so many choices/cool ones... but that's the purpose of gauges and lighted switches.... i did contemplate running a green battery one for a reminder when the system is paralleled..

that's something i just thought about while typing that.. i do now have the labelmaker to possibly make switch lettering... the only reasonable choice would be black with white letters.. not sure if I want that, but I'll keep it in mind... it could look cheesy..

they may be acceptable with the satin black bezel...

than again, i have NO compunction about leaving them unlabeled.. i know what each are, if it looks cleaner without, so be it...

i would still love to have my name painting bud do small hand painted ones.. that'd be badarse in the Ryo red......

also nutted up for some down the road stuff i'll need.. there are 2 funky conturas i need that aren't readily available from waytek, etc for park/head lights and interior lights.... they are special order, so finding them can be a challenge....... ordered em last night at $23 each, cuz I actually found them.... they are off-on-on.... most stock double throws are some variation of on-off-on, whether momentary, DP, etc... i could have gotten a third and combined the rotators and wig wags on one switch.. but got cheap.. i have plenty of simple on-off ones.. ;)

A off-on-on is a hard to find

yeah. i can play games with jumpers, double poles, etc here and there... but that 1 on, than both on is impossible to do otherwise without being fancy...

I still haven't figured out a way to do progressive up wipers.. like off - low - high.... due to it being grd fired... tho i haven't technically tried it.. maybe when these come in... but i'll just do low - off - high if need be.. no big....

had to cut that upper piece into thirds... 90* was too much, it looked funny.. so these are about 10* off of that..

backside done.. that's mat, cloth, mat...

need to weld a 1" ish piece down off the top, backfill and shape the end..

it's weird how it doesn't maintain the same width.. if ya ever look at it, the one side tapers in some...

going a bit smoother than expected.. the main panel is rough fit... just need to add the little piece to the end....

attachment will be 1/4-20 alum studs.. gonna drill/tap the plate.. screw em most of the way thru, and plugweld the top..

now i need to figure if/what I'm gonna do. with it.. leave it blank, switches, beer dispenser, etc...

Well, that sucks, what kind of switches did they sent you.

simple off/on 's... fug I've got about a dozen of those kicking around already... :doah: it was eghey, got a b*tch in to them, waiting on reply..

* welding studs in now... *

i knew before i took em out of the bag... i may just have em refund me, and buy from the link you had.. it was cheaper iirc anyway...

this should be a bit more stout in it's fastening....

I'll plug weld em here...

bounce back to the dash..... moving along on both 1/2's...

in my surfing I came across these 5mm LED's at $.60 a piece, so i bought 10.. figured i might use em for some indirect lighting in the bezel or maybe under dash, console, whatever... cheap enough...
