it translates to.......

fuRd - come on mang, I'm ready.. let er rip tater chip!

blackie - all good bud, whatevs ya need... ;)

muTt - feed me cummins pile now!???!!!!? :saweet: :saweet: :saweet::burnout:

Looks good out in the sun.

the argents funky... it actually has a bunch of metallic to it, but often comes across very grayish.... next time I spray it, I'm gonna change up my cap and technique a bit.. lighten it up some... get a bit more "glitter" to it...

i REALLY dig the scheme tho.. VERY pleased with how it looks overall... pics don't do the rig justice, it looks pretty badarse sitting in the marina...... it shows me enough to know I'm on the right track.... it sounds good in your brain, but until you actually see it, ya never know...

that, pinstriped, moldings, custom qrter stickers, reshoot the tool box.. with a SAS, stouter stance and beef up the steelies with the 35 yoko's, and I think it'll be a pretty worthy daily rig...

couple hundy mile trip yesterday for the fuRd... ran awesome, first highway time for it..... really liking the drivetrain package...

think it's gonna be my main squeeze this winter, so I'm gonna see about ordering a pair of BFG's for the front next week....

Tire Rack has em for like $215/free shipping a piece..

added a satin black pinstripe to break up the color changes.....

todays other project is cut the spare tire out.. the factory big bolt thingy is a complete rust ball... I'll throw it in the bed till i get my tires bought and re-engineer the spare/hangar a bit......

boy, this rig needs a suspension thrown at it REAL bad.... :yikes: ds rear hanger is TOASTY... could fail...

the rails look savable with a blasting....

tonights research..... figure out what way to go in the back.. how much pain $$$$ I'm looking at... flips, springs, etc... Sky's website, here I come... it really needs everything thrown at it.. this would be awesome to sneak in next summer.... if i win the lottery...

plus I'm VERY leary of what's going on with the rear tank.. wish I could put a single huge tank in the back, the spare won't be going back under now that I think about it going 35......

i did see they have a 35 gal bronco tank for 80's models.. wonder if that's a retro-fit mod capability...

so a plan to get the front tank back in up front is underway, before the back fails too... that way I can start using the front, and tackle the rear...

changed out a ton of them hangers over the years . nasty paint job let moisture sit under the paint and rot them out .

melt the heads off with the hot wrench and pop the rest with a center punch bit in air hammer and use a sheet of tin between frame and tank .

then heat the snot out of the nut and bolt but not to the point of trashing the rubber bushing . pop nut off and spin bolt a LOT if you can get it to move to help bust out the rust . then air hammer it out and install new .

some hanger kits are all inclusive . hanger / bolts / eye bolt and nut / even a bushing just in case .

soooo. the decision has been made...

I'm really gacked on this rig.. but I had to come down to the decision of throwing 5, 6 g's at this rig, or
Mutt, and it's #tubebedFTW...

I REALLY wanna throw a full 4" at this next summer.. a pair of 99-04 super duty axles (a pair in Pa right now for $400) (MAW throw the rear disc in too, the drums are literally falling apart on the current setup) all new updated springs, hangars, shocks... hopefully shafts would be good.. have Sky hook me up...

but the 12v cries in the background... gonna try to run/bandaid/piecemeal the FuRd while I build the Cummins pile...

man, a walk-a-round on the ps of this rig while running is inspiring.. it needs 4 meats and a stout stance/running gear, to be badarse...

anyway.. cheap DD'er build projects this winter...

I remember a buddy in high school had an F150 of this vintage and one day happened to look under it and the rear hangers had failed due to rust and the spring eyes had been riding on the bed floor.

so, decided to run all leaves.... but now I'm trying to figure out if I should go with V or X code springs.. and how to incorporate that into a kit... the X's are rated at 6000 a pair, the V at 5200... the X's give you an extra 1.5".... so not sure if i should get a 2.5" kit and the X codes.. or a 4" and the V's.. the rig WONT get a winch...

rumor is they ride about the same, but I'm inclined to run a heavier rated spring with a dizzle.. is that motor much heavier than a gasser? it doesn't look like it has 6BT heft to it...

the back is even more confusing as I'm looking at running the later, longer springs.... and there are some spring options... where's the CK5 of FuRd? :haha:

maybe I'll fire a help plea e-mail off to Sky later.. just to put a firm shopping list together from them..

basically a couple G's to Sky, with front/rear hanger kits shackles, some bilsteins, brakeline kit..

4 new springs from somewhere... figuring a grand for that.. if i got 4 X-codes.....

and a pair of used 99 - 04 axles... $500 to a g...

that's exactly what's gonna happen.... so there goes putting some cement block in the bed for snow season... :doah:

it's one of those "can of worms"... it'd be a pain to just do the minimum of a hanger and associated bushings/bolts.. and annoying to not "deal with the back of the rig rotting away" and inspect/replace the tank....

really makes me want to hot knife it all off and hang all new running gear...

rigs running awesome tho! :haha: :saweet:

I'm no help with spring choice. I can tell you that single rear wheel F250 and F350 super duties had a bunch of different rear spring/suspension setups. The 250s typically have a 2.5" block and the 350s had a 4" some times and sometimes not. Some run rear overloads on top and others don't. The 350 single rear wheel trucks usually sat a lot higher even with the same blocks due to spring rate. F450/550 springs will bolt in also but are pretty overkill unless you have a lot of weight all the time like a service bed. The cab and chassis super duties that I have seen run a thicker multi leaf pack compared to the regular trucks (comparing a single rear wheel F350 pickup to a single rear wheel F350 cab and chassis truck). Also if you haven't seen them already I think there's some videos on swapping super duty suspension into these on YouTube.

cool, thanks..... hadn't even thought of youtube for this stuff.. i did look up a couple 7.3 vids..

yeah, trying to figure it out for down the road.... i saw the 08- 16 spring list, and it is quite ummm, varied.. ;) i did notice a lot had to do with what block it ran, etc..

to be honest, i want it to ride as smooth as possible... not heavy duty.. the front weight will stay the same pretty much, and I really don't plan on putting more than 1000 lbs in the back, or towing anything huge with it....

actually, with what I just said, and a bit more reading, it sounds like I want the opposite up front.. 4" reversal kit and V-codes springs... not 2.5 and X...

Glad you are staying focused on Mutt. This thing is cool, but i agree it should be a second priority.

yeah, i'm just window shopping currently.. plan mode.... the only exception I'll make for that is a smokin deal on some axles if I come across a nice pair.... the project would begin with that anyway...

speaking of... minor update to that thread too later...

oh, and I think I'll order that stock frame bracket for safety reasons if I'm gonna try and run this around for a couple yrs..... jeffs had em....

I'm mostly concerned about finding the right bushings for the spring/hanger....

so i just ordered that bracket, hangar/bushings, like $75..... but now I'm thinking the smart thing to do here is to put the new front tank in with a new sender, straps, etc and put that system back in working order..

that way I can actually drop the back tank to do the bracket, clean the rails, and get that ready for a new tank.. or at least inspect, but I'm betting it isn't too far away from being junk by the look of the rail....

figure it's only around $250 to get that front tank back in, not that bad... even tho I'd be going back down to 1 tank, it'll be a more reliable rig....
