Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

body man is at least as old as you and me...painter looks to be in his twenties

fresh lungs, good.... hopefully the grandpa snaps the guilt whip and has the kid lay some sweet coats....

I'm not worried about the kids ability, but I do think this is his first time shooting a solid color...everything is metalflake of some kind these days...
he is definitely shooting base coat / clear coat...not SS/CC

ok, last I heard was SS with clear.. whatever makes his boat float....I prefer base...

I talked to him last Friday when I was there...the SS idea was because DuPont makes the GM #527 in SS, but does not have it in their catalog in either Chroma or Chroma Premier...
So it is going to have be a special mix...but the Dupont store can do it because they have the correct formula. It's just going to cause them a little more pain...

oh...and I forgot...he is going to spray sealer on it to make sure the base is uniform.

there are photos of it there...just no need to repeat photos of the same buff primer...you couldn't tell any difference in the photo.
since they are going to paint it over a weekend I won't get to see the steps or take any photos of that either...

Ok! just thought a shot of you sweating under the tree with your blazer would be
a nice reminder on what you are going through!??? :D

Good job man! :waytogo: Can't wait to see it! :thumb:

hood is already at the local facility in the early a.m. I wonder if it will get delivered today? a day early.

hood arrived at 10:00 this morning...bodyshop called me but I couldn't leave work...so I didn't get to see it. looks like I will see when it is on the truck and painted.

What's the best way to clean up door latching mechanisms?

I don't know what metal they are made of...dip them in a chemical or degreaser or sandblast them? :dunno:
