Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

I need to go ahead and take the drivers seat out and set it on fire and burn off the old foam and have it sandblasted. Won't be able to drive it while my seats are out...but when I get them back they will be the right color...

You know, the hardest part of this dream is...how do I become Police Chief...and where is my Ellen?

Its my dream color too! I will someday build a tribute to my first truck ever.

But im going to do it like you did and do a white stripe instead of having the white go all the way to the bottom. To this day, my biggest regret in life (mostly) is getting rid of that suburban. I robbed its guts and put them in a blazer that i couldn't get a title for. I was 15 and my dad gave me the truck. It was half his fault though as he gave me the idea as well...

did they go all white to the bottom from the factory?

Yea. It was an option. They had conventional and special. Mine is conventional and yours is special. Dont know if they did it on the blazers or not.

If you painted it Great White "gray" on top and fish belly white on bottom.....paint a suburban like a great white shark...

A person could certainly do that. But i aint gunna! Its going to look just like yours, only it will be a burb.

I heard dynamat and stuff like it will not stay stuck to the inside of the door and will peel off and get into the window mechanism....you ever heard of that? I dunno...

it's badarse... :waytogo:

P40 warhawk, tho not the best plane, was killer for the art alone..

I have never heard of the peeling issue. I would bet it has to do with poor prep. Lots of dudes use stuff like dynomat on their roofs and dont have issues.

Anything I've heard of that did that was poorly prepped knockoff stuff.

Before you apply the dynamat, its a good idea to wipe down the surface with some paint prep to ensure no dirt, dust, or grease prevents it from adhering. Also use the little wooden roller thingy to work the mat into corners and around curves. Once you roll it, there's no way that stuff isn't coming back up without a fight. :thumb:

Anybody got the drivers side door lock "rod" piece that attaches to the latch mechanism and then runs up through the hole and the lock knob screws onto it?

LMC doesn't have that piece...not sure what holds it on....not sure if mine ever had it or if I have lost it...LMC diagram shows it grayed out...:dunno:

I probably still have one.
Give me a couple of days and I will find it for you.
