Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

For historical record these are numbered 329003 LH DPC and 329004 RH DPC

although there is nothing that comes up in GM parts for this

By the way, the passenger seat sits higher than the drivers seat. I would be curious to know if Craig's is that way too?

The bracket is totally different for the passenger seat because it has to lift and fold over...
I'll have a look at mine tomorrow and report in.

Should be smooth not textured, they are just sun dried and worn from weather, cleaning, rubbing etc. They are close to 40 years old.

Yours are really bad.

They look fine now...plus I got one of the seat backs on

Nice man! Did you order new door handle gaskets? I would like to know what ones you used and how they fair. I got new ones from either lmc or classic and they are already cracked out and looking 20 years old...

What is this metal "pad" for at the top of the door jamb....and I am missing whatever fits on the door opposite it...anybody know what that's called?

I have that metal "pad" on mine too. Not sure what it is. I'll look at mine as well as the seat that I haven't looked at yet. Do the full-cab trucks and '76-up Blazers have those pads? :dunno:

The first gen trucks have that too. I was always under the impression that it was there so the door could actually rest against the B pillar. Since we don't have a roof there is flex in that area so if it wasn't tight against that stop it would rattle.
Of course my doors rattle anyway but that is beside the point. :P

I'm thinking a contact/rub point for body flex between the door and piller instead of paint damage.
Mine are in a bag somewhere, haven't put them back on after replacing doors and rear quarters.

Also, if it flexed there would be painted surfaces touching each other, so it keeps it from damaging the paint on the two areas. Here is what is on the door on the 72:

I've seen them called door striker plates...though it isn't technically the door striker. And also I haven't seen a place to buy them new.

Here's what fits on the door opposite those metal pads, just another little metal piece with a nub on it:

When you get your surgery and have to "walk the wall" afterwards to get it moving again, the doctor will explain that exercise, make sure that you have a chair behind you...

When I had mine done I pushed it too far and passed out. Hit the floor... Lucky no further injury from that, but thereafter I put a chair behind me so I could sit down fast when I had to.

Hope that does not happen to you but this helped me.

Good luck with the Surgery!!!

I need those that are on the door....guess I will go walk a yard tomorrow and see if there is one

My door "rattle" up and down like the latch rattling on the striker post, when I drive over something rough...I wondered if there was something you could do to prevent it...I guess those pads could help if they make good contact.

Made me wonder if my door latches were just loose and worn out.

Will I ever be able to lift anything again? Ever?
On the "wall walking" youTube video they make it sound like you can never do overhead presses or pushups again?

You will be fine if you do the rehab recommended. Athletes get these done all the time.

But, If you lay back and cry about it and not tough out the pain it will heal and limit you in that condition.

Just don't be stupid like I was and try to do more than your ready for. Hitting the floor passed out from the pain taught me to listen to the people who know, and don't go overboard, that can do more harm.

Knock on wood, you will be fine and in a few months feel better than you have in a long time. Just do the rehab and pace yourself.

Does anybody know what this piece is?
