Since you're diving into a new case to swap out I was curious if you had heard of the ford case that can mate to these? WFO posted some pics of a radius arm kit for these trucks and they mentioned a ford upgrade tcase on their Facebook page. Any idea?

Im only swapping the case because mine is showing its age, its from an 88. Its hard to get into gear and is starting to make noise , plus the adapter is leaking. So why not do it all and service the trans. I think the ford case they are talking about is the 273, a manual case with front and rear flanges. They like to have transfercase express swap the shafts so they can connect it to the Allison. I haven't seen any tho put in the gas trucks. Where did you see it..?

lots of people say not street use . but haven't seen 1 bad set from it . and lots of guys running them on the street with no problems .

little more info for ya . http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307918&highlight=king+pin

Thanks, I might have to try that in this truck. That's the only part of the axle I didn't touch. Ill have to pull the cap off and check what it looks like. Maybe ill just buy the eliminators and the bushings. The bushings look like a no brainer. They wont wear like the ones in the pics..:waytogo:

All went perfect today, put the new Tcase in with new adapter seals and a new gm trans mount. The trans mount I put in when I did the last swap was pretty bad and torn. Then again it was an anchor trans mount... junk.. I pulled the 60 apart and did new wheel bearings, long field bushings and new spicer life joints with new warn premiums. The new trans pan fit perfect too, its pretty nice. You use the stock filter and gasket. It has risers for the filter to sit on. I refilled the trans with gm trans fluid which was pretty cheap and filled the case with ams oil 5-30 like I said before. Here's the new pan, for my style truck with the 4l80e it needs to be thin at the crossmember end since there isn't much room there.

So in the last year ive done trans/oil cooler/brake lines, water pump/hoses, wheel bearings, ujoints, spindle bushings, deaver springs, softer valved shocks, ring/pinion, driveshaft retube with joints, slip yoke, trans pan, pcm tune, steering box, hydro assist all rod ends, all new heims...and im forgetting a lot..lol

Here's the pic of the military take off mtr's I picked up in October. Finally got them mounted on my welds.

All cleaned up, put a new stainless rear bumper on, ordered the king pin spring eliminators and the bronze bushings. I'm going to do all of that when I dive in to do the axle seals that now one has to leak. I'm thinking of buying reservoir front shocks and running single shocks. With the reservoir mounted on my shock hoops. This weekends job is going to be clean/prep and por 15 the front end parts and frame rails. Here's how it stands as of now.

A few new small things i did and a few new ones coming. I finally got to wire brush the frame. I used 2 quarts of por15 semi gloss black on the whole frame. Then used gloss black por15 top coat. I painted as much as i could for now with the top coat. The areas you can notice are shiny like glass. Eastwood is about 2 hours from me and if you buy thru ebay with free shipping it only takes a day...lol..perfect. I did end up ordering a set of blistein 7100 reservoir shocks with 360/80 valving....damn things are backordered at my local performance store so no biggie. These are 14 inch travel short body shocks. Ill mount the resi on the hoop and have just a single shock on each side.....dont ask..lol....it was a want thing..lol. With these if i dont like the valving i can revalve them myself and buy custom valve stacks. I think the deavers are coming off along with my tierod/draglink and sway bar links to get powder coated soon. A set of longhorn fab traction bars should be in the works too...

more useless mods..lol..below

I removed those big goofy reverse lights and put in a set of bright white cree reverse lights. Also added a fire and ice led bar under the tailgate. Lights up white in reverse and red with signals and brake. Im impressed with how bright it is. I up graded the headlights to lifetime led.com led headlight bulbs, these are plug and play. Nice quality and about 3x's as bright as the stockers..a well worth swap. I did the big 3 upgrade too with a larger ground and power wire kit from pcm of nc. made my battery at crank go right to 12 and now with all the lights on it stays at 14. I went a little far with the fancy led lights and did all of them in the interior...its like daylight when they are all on in the dark.

I had a shock leaking so it was buy a new shock or figure something else out. So I called foa about a set of 2.5 reservoir shocks instead of the duals. They said about the perfect valving and with running a single 2.5 it would be perfect on a full size truck. So I orders a set from Dave's Offroad supply, he answered all my questions and was very helpful. They came a week after ordering them, they are really nice. Hopefully they were worth the change. The 2.5 shock hardly fits in the hoop, I wanted it on the front side of the mount but no room for that. Then I had no where to put the reservoir, the hose was either too long or too short. So I made a mount out of tube and bolted it to the frame. I ran out of por15 so I'll order more and paint where bare frame is now showing. I don't like the isolator style resi mounts but for now they will work fine.

So FOA is back in production? Keep us updated on how you like them. I know they had seal issues early on.

To be honest i read alot of ups and downs with this company, I really couldnt find much in 2014 tho in the bad. I did notice its real hard to get ahold of them on the phone. I wanted to double check the valving, i got an answer pretty quick thru email tho. They came in big thick boxes, pretty nice looking but not perfect. The only thing wrapped in the box was the reservoir which was upsetting, the misalignment spacers were all tied together on the bottom of the box so they didnt rattle around. They did charge nice and seem to be dry for the time being, hopefully they fixed their problems. I wanna buy them for the rear but ill use them awhile to see how they are. Im still unsure if i like how they are mounted, it was the only way at the moment that i thought looked good.

I cleaned the frame up, ran the brakelines thru clips , ordered billet clamps for the resi's also.

I added a set of sway bar disconnects(2nd pic), I made plates today to move it back 3 inches to keep the links more straight. Ill get those on later this week. I needed limiting straps up front so I bought a set of bolt on straps(1st pic) with the adjustable clevis. I did finally buy a set of rear shocks, 2.0 emulsion foa 2x12 . Non resi shocks for the rear just to be simple. Had to do the rear brakes too, I changed the rusty backing plates, new ebrake cables/shoes, new rotors and pads. To put the new backing plates I had to pull the hubs, I changed the seals and gaskets. Little job turned to a big job but its all good now. Next I think I'll just buy the parts mike steering arm, its about the right specs. Probably buy the bronze bushings too.

do the bushings and be done . also look in to crane spring eliminator kit also fits in spring style arms .

I did it on recent king pin reman for buddy and 44" swampers tsl old and wobbly there is no death wobble.

I was looking for a steering arm that was thinner up by the draglink hole, the wide style like the ord doesnt work for me. When turned all the way it gets into my lower coil buckets, i had to grind. Ill keep searching tho, the parts mike style is what i need but its the springless design. Thats why i thought about those with the good bushings. But for a street truck id rather not have to keep messing with them, i dont know how the springless style would be. I like the eliminator idea and read alot of reviews on it. Hopefully i can find a thin arm, if so ill buy the eliminator and the bushings and be done with it.
