Sasquatch

92 K3500 CCLB 454 TBI / 4L80E This is the rebuild of a rig that was purchased recently. This is to serve as a family tow rig that doesn't have a payment.
I will be cutting up the Limo over the next couple of weeks. Time and money says that having the parts in the driveway is worth way more than super duty parts.

I'll be hydro assisting the steering box. Transplant the axles into Sasquatch. Rear will get airbags to assist.

Who else is running leaf springs under a big block crewcab? How bad of a ride is the 46" vs 52"? What is the weight on your front axle?

My crew cab was all leaves and 350/465/205 it had the hd springs and still was pretty smooth ride compared to my k5.
The extra wheelbase and weight of the truck itself makes it better ride

tuff country hd fronts 3" if i recall ( got a few sets )

all iron 350 sbc / th400/203-205 / 3/8" all steel fisher plow frame on the front at all times / cucv grill guard on the front at all times .

she rides just fine no real complaints .

also did a set of 4" hd tuff country in a guy rig with all iron 400sbc / nv4500/205 / ramsey 12k worm gear winch in a old school MASSIVE built winch bumper . he loves it also .

I have an 8.1/NV4500 in my 89 V3500 crew cab. I have 3" lift springs that are Tuff Country (bought from ORD, but drop shipped from Tuff Country). I also spent a little more and put bilstein 5125's under it, and I'm pretty happy with the ride. In my opinion, a good shock goes a long way, even on a leaf sprung rig

Went and looked at a F550 as a drivetrain donor today. It took half an hour to park the shop truck and trailer at the junkyard. Only to find out it's a 2wd.

Got the front axle out of the Limo. Cut the front hanger off and ground the welds down. I poked a hole in it torching it off. I'll weld it up after I know where it will sit in the crewcab. The winch will go back in the similar location also.

I torched a few more brackets off the crewcab frame in between rain squalls also. It will take awhile to get it all sanded out. Between rain coming down. Farm chores with newborns in the barn. We aren't making very quick progress

I think I'm going to run some 4" lift springs that have been floating around here. Maybe put an add a leaf in it to see.

Got the front hanger squared up tonight. Its within an 1/8" to the rear. Doesn't mean that its square to the front frame though. If any of you guys are body shop techs. Make sure you learn to read a tape measure before you learn to use a frame rack. The drivers front frame horn was/is almost a full inch off. When they did the repair to the front after the wreck. They pulled it under tension and welded the lift kit in. Once the lift kit was welded in they were able to align it. Sometimes I didnt know some of my father in laws tricks.

No welder at the house and I need this rig running. So, I'm putting the radiator back in and I'll weld it up at my father in laws later in the week.

Learned a bit about the radiator options for these rigs today also. Measure the core inside the top and bottom plates. 19" radiator does not for in the 17" hole.

We've owned 3 of these trucks and all these braces are broken on them. I think they broke them at the factory at this point....

On a side note. I reallly need to stop reading OBS SAS threads.....

Nice build man!
