saved from the scrap yard (my wifes not laughing)

I've got an M818 with 14.00R20 singles on it to pull my belly dump on the ranch. I strongly advise going with 14.00 singles instead of 16.00 singles.
Reasons being the 16.00's will kill power, rub the frame and bed if you put one on, also the military did upgrade the M900 series of trucks to use 14.00's, and some of the M800's also got upgraded--specifically Marine units

whats the gear ratio in that? there must be a big split in between those gears with only a 5spd.
one of our trucks had a 330 cummins with a 9spd and 4.63s. it was low geared enough for power, but 60mph was it. all of our dumptrucks where like that. low geared and under powered.

6:443:1 with a two speed t-case.

Hey now thats awesome, great minds think alike!

we got a 1978 m912 oshkosh in our yard that was abandoned after we inframed the 8v92, its got a big Allison behind it. It's seriously been sitting just like it is, for 10 months or so with a brand new engine, with 2 new heads. I'm trying to get the company to sell it to me. This pig has 14r24 tires!

This is a M911 HET ( Heavy Equipment Transport ).
I drove these in the Army. We use to haul tanks with them, very badazz machines. The heaviest I remember hauling was a m88 which weighed about 80 tons. Also look at the back behind the cab. two winch systems that was used to pull a dead tank up on the trailer, most exciting thing I have ever done. I mean just watching these things pull a tank weighing 80 tons up the ramps. But the down side is dragging the cables out to hook up to the tank, will wear you the f#ck out. 1983 - 1989 , did my time. :woot:

BAD@$$ man! I've thrown around the idea of getting a deuce and bobbing it if I can't find a K30 to tow with. Be a PITA to get big stuff in the bed, but I guess a lift-gate wouldn't be hard to build. :waytogo:

Yep you bet. 912 is typo. M911 is what the data plate says.

I would love to find an m747 trailer for it. With the quad axles and pulley supports for the winch cables. It really is the ultimate recovery machine. More likey though is yank the 5th wheel and put a cargo box on it, but leave the winches. And mod the box to pull the cables straight through to pull junk up the ramps.

I was wrong the guys has 14r20 not 16r20 and your truck has the look that I'm going for but with a bed and O.D. green all over with black rims.

Well we went up to Michigan this past weekend and made some progress, SOME. We did get it to run but after consoling with a couple friend that are diesel techs, I will be making anther trip back up in a month or so to replace all the rubber hoses that are associated with the fuel system. I have four dead batteries in the 818, but on the flip side it has four band new 11.00r20 ndt's on it, the last time in was in service was 2006 which is when it had a new clutch and trans put in it, and it does run, sorta. We had to pull start it with josh's deuce (a big thanks to him and his friend), there's no major rust on it any where, the engine runs only at about 500 to 900 r.p.m. because of dry routed fuel lines and it sucking air, which we will be making a second trip up there to replace them in a month or so. We did get the oil filter and oil changed, didn't change out the fuel filter base yet just didn't have enough time got to late of a start and just ran out of time. my best friend Jeremy did go up with me and started painting the truck for me, o.d. green all the way around (got to have the old girl looking good for all the new pictures) will need to make some up dates to it, it hasn't had the air cut off switch/ service bullet don't to it yet for the trans and t-case yet. And the tail lights are two different ones. A cool side know is that the two soldiers that last drove it, there names are still on the windows, (drivers side) SPC. NAVA and (passenger side) SGT. WERNER. I plan to leave there names on the windows, that history bought to life. I'll post some new pictures of the truck in the next day or so as well as the video of it making its first trip under its own power in first gear low range. My wife says next time she will go up with so we will have better pictures to post.

Oh and the new bigger tires are not 14.00r20 they are 16.00r20 (53" tall), my wife's not going to be able to get in to it with out a ladder.

Thats pretty cool. I would love to have the space for something like that.

Well just an up date, got the 5 year old algee cleaned out of both tanks FINALLY. Ordered one new fuel cap and fuel strainer for the passenger side tank due to the fact it had two very large holes punched in the filtering screen. Also ordered new gaskets for the for both fuel tanks too, they where showing some signs of age and cracking.

Found a place on line to get hose that's oil, gasoline, grease, leaded and unleaded gasoline, gasohol, and diesel fuels, Max working pressure 50 psi for ID sizes 1/4, 5/16, 3/8. Max working pressure 35 psi for 1/2", 5/8, and 3/4 inch, but it's not suitable for bio-diesel fuel.

Any body else ever used this company or there line?

I will say this much I have never seen a slave cable (jumper cables) dance (jump) while while trying to start an engine but I can now say I have, this trucks really putting that hole safety first in to prospective.

First picture is of preacherboy's deuce, then my 818, then a buddies of preacherboy's custom built bobbed deuce.

youtube link to my video, I sound like a dum ars, but there is a small quadro-jet size filter in the I.P. pump, thanks Ron for your help on that one also suching air from one bad rubber fuel lines that I didn't replace yet, there's always next time.

I use Goodyear fuel injection SAE 30R9 for diesel fuel lines. Rated for gas, diesel, bio, fueloil, sour gas. Basically anything you want to burn.
Oh I see where your at now in your hose link, don't use that low pressure hose. Use the fuel injection rated hose. Yes its more expensive, but its what you need. I don't see the sizes listed over 3/8" on that fly by night website. But prefer name brand stuff. I use lots of Goodyear hoses.
