Shady's Crew cab short bed project (SOLD)

beautiful ride bro!

Thank you:thumb:

too bad you couldnt drive that instead of the burb in the winter.

I know it:doah: Between the brakes being jacked up and having to worry about my pinion angle ripping the u joint keepers off again, I decided it just wasnt safe to drive in snow.

That'll change soon though:waytogo:

Got the money for my axle. checked online at my local pull-a-part and found that they have a Bunch of newer ones to choose from. Once I find a decent one with 4.10's it'll be coming home and I'll be putting an order in for perches, shock tabs, ubolts, and plates. new front brake calipers coming tommorow. It's getting there

cool Rick, take some pics man! I need a fix ya know?

threw this pic on my kids thread so why not here:D Havent gotten an axle yet:confused: Works been kickin my a$$. and every time I try to go to the yard the weather sucks:doah:

that looks good Rick...has that axle ripped itself loose yet on the CC?

the pinion angle and bearings are so bad its scary. its already bound up and broke the Dshaft u bolts on the rear once:doah: Just needs fixed and I got too many irons in the fire right now:dunno: once its fixed the burb will have plenty of competition on the DD status:waytogo:

This thing goes in the buddies shop later today. Going to rebuild the front outer ends for now. I'll see if I can fab some new spring perches and roll the rear axle a bit while its in there. I got a few small things to straighten up,,, Dent in door(small) from being stupid, rear drivers door dont open, steering collum(found one for $35), and some rocker repair or sliders. Then I'll see what I can get out of it on CL around here:thumb: The burbs my baby and I only need one truck..... For now:rolleyes:

I know I've seen a thread about this, but what causes the upper ball joint to not make it up far enough? heres some pics. and a couple of before and during

Well I found the issue. Talking to the guys at orilleys I found out that the Master Pro brand ball joint that I bought was the right one, Just made wrong. Apparently they've seen it before. We got the moog one out and compared them side by side. the MP one is a full 1/2 too tall. They gave me $15 off the moog one, and let me return the MP (even though I BEAT it back out) for a full refund. I can tell the difference in how it drives now:eek1: Much better. I didnt do the drivers side cause they were in great shape.

I couldnt get pics due to dead batt in camera.

On another note, This thing runs at 210* all the time. dosent matter if its cold or hot out:dunno: Thats going by the factory gauge still so it may be off. But if you open the hood it feels hot. Never over heats and always runs good. Just runs hot. I'm gonna check to see if the coolant is the right mixture. I also have a left over Tstat I'm gonna throw in it. Any one ever seen that happen? Causes?

I would check the T-stat and see if it opens in a pot of boiling water. If not its bad and thats what was wrong.

Or just throw in the other T-stat and see what happens and if it fixes it call it a day and figure the old one was bad. I have had different ones fail open or fail closed.

If it's steady at 210 I wouldn't worry about it, 210 is more efficient and as long as you don't hit 225 you're OK.
People tend to think cooler is better, but in fact the best efficiency is around 200-210 and also helps burn out any moisture in the oil from condensation.
By the way my big rig is alwways running at 210.

i didnt figure it was too big of an issue. It has driven around alot like that, including the 3.5 hrs home when I bought it, with out any problems. Just seems odd. It has a LARGE electric fan but only enough shroud to cover the fan. could be better, but I'm not real worried. I found out also that it was way advanced Dont know how I got it there:dunno: I've had a loose dizzy retard its self. but never advance.. Of course I set it with a $10 HF timing light last time:rolleyes:

most fuel injected motors run around 200.. my new 454 TBI runs 205, 210 steady...
