Shop build. HEAT!

Been down that road with wood pushed through too quickly. Was back when when we had a shortage of wood around 2006.
Expanding my upstairs. Had to go back and replace quite a bit number of warped 2x4’s

One small thing. However many circuits and receptacles you plan to use....double it. HA! If you have the space in the panel that is.

Fortunately not my first rodeo. I'll have enough. I also know I won't know the exact layout I want. So I am planning on running some in conduit on the walls. Leaving 4 spaces for future external wires

WHat are you using for interior sheeting? Sheetrock will work but to me is the least desirable for a shop. I always end up putting holes in it. The last shop I build we used just regular BC 1/2" plywood and I really liked it. Not as "finished" a look as drywall but certainly tougher.

He should look at interior panels. It will be way cheaper than osb or ply. They come painted white so they will even reflect more light.

This fiberglass paneling is often put in reefer body trucks that haul food ,they are pretty strong ,but not cheap, about $32 each at Lowes or Home Depot..a truck body I bought to use for a shed has these panels, they are impervious to water or mold, and have held up great--they are often used in rest rooms in schools and commercial buildings also..bathroom wall fiberglass panels.jpg

I'm using OSB for the first 8 feet. Then sheetrock

Have you already purchased the material? Putting the steel panels up will be easier, and cheaper and are already painted. I can get the panels for about a little less than a buck per sq foot.

That's still more expensive than 1/2" OSB.

And Eric, check regular plywood price against the OSB first. I know that in our home Depot the OSB is about $1.50 more a sheet than 1/2" cdx right now.

Home Depot now sells corrugated roofing panels 10 feet x 30"wide, for $17 a sheet here ,the stuff is rather thin at 26 gauge, but would make a good spark and flame barrier down low...

No corrugated crap. I hate not having a smooth wall.

OSB was by far the cheapest non sheetrock option. It was also the cheapest wood option. Considering I bought a bunk of OSB ( like 64 sheets or something) for 20% off cause it has some damage it was on par with sheetrock at the time.

There are certainly other choices I would have chose over OSB, but OSB for the first 8 feet will get me a tougher wall where I need it and sheetrock above it and I have by a long ways, with local pricing, the least expensive wall covering.

Also remember every trip to home Depot for me is 5 hours total and 75 bucks in fuel.

Plus my ace hardware up here beat their prices on everything.

Except blow in insulation . And my other local place says they will meet home depots price. So everything but the OSB will be coming from local places.

Also it's nice to sit down and BS on ck 5 when Keith is on a ladder doing work

Wow,I have 2 Home Depots less than 5 miles away, and I can almost see the Lowe's from my house!....

I am not that impressed with the "roofing" I mentioned either--its unsuitable for anything more than a shed roof in my opinion,no good on a larger garage or home--for one thing if you walked on it,it would be permanently buckled and deformed...stove pipe is thicker !..
I don't like the "wavy" texture either, would be a pain to make flashing for the corner joints..
