Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
Well, I guess i do have to pull the manifold bolts too lol... But they're all broke free. Just not ran out. Passenger side ones were all finger tight.. That was a surprise.

The exhaust from the bee will go in this too. After being modified a tad, and lengthened.
I have a couple hurdles to jump with that. Since I want to run a blazer tank eventually. And that area is where the mufflers were located in the bee. But that should be an easy fix.

What would that have been for... Like an emissions thing?

I believe my 85 has that. But it has the factory stainless tube manifolds so it looks different.

Been trying to get back on this, but unfortunately I've been sick for a week :doah:... Not horribly on the day's I had to work. Then my first day off I can barley move lol.. just my luck.
Feeling sort of better now after a real bad night and day. But I'm sort of afraid to work on it tomorrow, being to soon and all.
Hopefully I'll have updates soon.

I have the engine to the point where all I have to do is remove mounting bolts, the 6 to the trans and the motor mount bolts.
I'm changing the mounts along with the engine because I think these are bad and the others look good lol. This drivers side is the one that makes me think it's bad..... Looks a little tight there.

And..? What kind of factory manifolds had fittings all through them.. Those are some sort of plugs I think... Engine is a 73, manifolds have to be much newer I'd think. :dunno:.

I think 75 was the first year for air injection

I was looking at big block replacement manifolds a few weeks ago. At least the stuff I can see through NAPA, it's all the same stuff. All they sell is manifolds that are for the AIR injection. If you don't need the AIR stuff it's just capped off at each port. Functional, but not really eye appealing. Then again what cast manifold is?

I wish they made a version of the Rams horn manifolds for big blocks. Something that resembles a shorty header but all cast.

Wow.. they're proud of them baby's aren't they lol. Cool though.

Never seen those before.

I'd spend the money on Doug thorleys first lol.

I like the idea of them sealing better, and being quieter. But not totally sure of their other claims... Who knows though :dunno:

Well I'm finally going to get some time on this tomorrow.
Plan is to first, get the area of the Bee cleaned up and around so that that is done and ready for departure day.

Then I'll get the engine pulled from this and hopefully get the other engine sealed up and ready to go in. I've decided to change the motor mounts to poly while it's out, but don't have them yet.
Also forgot to order a new clutch kit :doah:.
I'll order it all Friday.

I also need to look into getting the hydro pedal set in and the hole for the master cylinder drilled in the firewall.
I kind of think I may not do that yet though, because my future plans are for an automatic. Im not really sure it's worth swapping it all just to tear it out in a year or 2 :dunno:. I just hope my headers fit with the mechanical linkage. If not I'll have to swap it all anyway.

I have those in the Jolly Green Giant.

I support your purchase

For the manifolds, keep an eye open for the tubular factory manifolds that were used for a couple years. They also came on RV's (P30) and you can usually score them for a hundred bucks or so. I really like how they fit on my truck tucked up out of the way.

I used some plugs for the air holes btw.
