Shorty the crewcab. (Been saved from the chopping block)

81 CC short bed conversion
All that water is snow that melted off the dually lol. Drain has been plugged for years. We don't even know where it comes out at :dunno:. Something I'm going to have to dig into... Hopefully not literally

Plus side, your heater must work

Heater works great lol.

On another note,. I have the paperwork in to the state but have yet to hear back from them about my title for the 81.

I'm still held up by that process on all 3 of my trucks. I can't take anything apart on the 81 until it's inspected for the title. And if it's going to go ok and I get the title easy enough then I'll take all 3 trucks and combine pieces back and forth to end up with the 85 dually becoming a single rear wheel with stock height suspension and 4x4. Using the rumble bees tranny/Tcase, axles, and spring hangers. Plus the 81s front springs.

The 81 being shortened a little farther than it was going to be and the suspension, wheels, tires, and engine from the Bee. It will become the family toy, with the 85 being the DD tow rig.

Eventually the 85 will get shortened for the CCSB conversion.

There's about 3 ways to go about it all, I just have to choose one

Reading your posts while your trying to figure what the hell your doing all the time makes my head hurt.:doah:
I know. Sorry about that. I have an extremely active mind. Like at any given moment I have 500 scenarios about 20 different subjects playing out in the back of my head. Like 20 chess games going at once. And that has led to a LOT of changes, vehicle swaps, and second guessing.
I know I have lost followers on other threads for this reason too.

But that's why I've done what I have with trading my '15 in, refinancing my house, paying a few things off, etc. So I can finally focus on what i have.

Now it's just picking the most efficient option of how to.

It's ok, I am actually the same way. I only post .001% of the shit going on in my head.
Not really faulting you for it. Just saying i have a hard time following sometimes.

Few pics I took... True dual exhaust sort of surprised me.. and the fact that it looks all original... Part that boggles me is the complete heat shielding :dunno:. Never seen anything like it.
Also didn't know there were torque arm mount points on the 465 bell housing. But there appears to be no other point near the motor mounts

Also, it leaks pretty good :doah:.

And I found this weird extremely off hole and rust spot I hadn't seen :dunno::thinking:

I started the 81 and poured a bottle of seafoam in it with about 8 gallons of gas. It's had a real rough time of staying running, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try.
It started bad but after a bit I got it to idle. It sat out front of the shop and idled for about 40 minutes all on it's own. Smoothing out some as it went. It had a few hiccups but never died. That was way better than it has been.
Next I'm going to do a fluid change and tune up to see if it gets better. And I haven't even touched the carb since the rebuild.
Hopefully I'll have 3 good running, drivable squares soon :D.

Then the franken job of making 3 into 2 mo-betta ones can begin.

I didn't get much for pics, but I spent a long time on the 81 last night.
I heard back from the dot and the title process is nearly finished. Inspection is next. All lights work, wipers work, brakes work, it runs, and all doors n windows operate.
I gave it new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, and fixed a few vac line ends.

I still need to wire in a horn before inspection, and put new wipers on it.

As soon as it passes inspection I'll get the certificate saying I can get the title.
After that I can finally move forward on it all.
Rumble bee will be sacrificed as planned.

Old school photo chop for fun. Kicking ideas around in my head for when the 81 becomes the family 4x toy.

Probably won't be like that. But the wheelbase isn't far off.

lop 4ft off the back of the frame and move the axle up to the center of whats left and do 56" springs backwards gets you 133" wheel base . standard cab long bed is 131.5"

I had thought about putting this cab on my rumble bee, but don't want to do the cutting in the doors and such.
Plus this will give me more room for tools, spare, fuel cell, etc.

It probably won't have an actual box on it like the pic.
It'll be more like @Alan2smiley 's built white truck.

That's a good idea  . It would help with space issues for bed storage. I'll have to see how it comes out once the bed comes off and I figure out my tank mount.

I'm taking cues from quite a few builds on here. And a little from ORDs Willard.
