Well, all the winch stuff is done for now.
I finished up by buying 2 matching AGM batteries, and mounting one of them in the bed.
They are hooked up parallel by a 1/0 cable I ran through a piece of PEX tubing, and sealed with glue style heat shrink on both ends.
I them heated it in spots to bend as needed and attached it to the frame.
Now I have a hook up on each end for the winch, and both batteries are charged by the alt.

Also added a mount in the bed to carry the winch until needed.

Nope. Identical batteries, wired in parallel. No need.

Took this biatch out today. Loaded up the wife, Kaz, and grabbed the nephews.
Then hit all the worst roads I can think of in the area. 6-8" of snow over unfrozen ground that's muddy as hell and some DEEP tractor ruts in places.
Walked right through all of it like it was a stroll in the park :waytogo:
Couple spots down in some valleys between hills it earned it's keep though lol. Run off and sunlight bathing those areas left them SOFT. One was a couple hundred feet long and I had pumpkin grooves through most of it. Those ruts I made lol.
Wife has a video of one road that wasn't the worst but it was fun. I'll get that up soon. The worst ones unfortunately were too rough to hold the camera lol.

Few shots from the day. Most are on the pad thread anyway. I'll get the ones my wife took too.

Took me about 4 years. But I finally got it to a point where I'm not afraid to take it anywhere in my area with the family along.
Need to get a jack and spare mount figured out though. Even if the spare mounts temporary. I didn't have it today and it bothered me.

I changed the mufflers out and put in walker quiet flows. Not exactly happy with it. If I can find a happy medium between these and the FM 50's I had it'll be perfect.

Love this truck. Love the chit out of it.
Can't wait till next mod phase. I'm excited as hell lol.

Forgot to mention, I pummeled the suspension on this thing front to back, corner to corner, side to side, lock to lock, etc. Bouncing off of bump stops so hard it was jarring sometimes.
No indication anywhere that the tires got into metal.:waytogo:

Checked tread lugs, fenders, mud patterns, etc. Nothing.

Well.....

We've come to a point where having this isn't really that fun for us any more. :dunno:

It sits 360 or so days a year. And when it is driven it's usually the 13 miles to work and back.
There just isn't anywhere to have fun with it close enough to us to be feasible.
I'd have to trailer it for many hrs to find anything fun, and that kind of kills it.
Closest place to me I can find is the Badlands in Indiana, that's 3+ hrs.
So it would almost have to be a 2 day deal to do it and have fun.
Then it'd be expensive on top of it. Gas, hotel, etc.
When I started on it we had 2 places to go not far away. Both closed to trucks now.

I have 2 projects I can use anytime and don't have to travel. And both need my time and money also.

So I've pretty much come to the conclusion it's time to try and sell it.

I'm going to see what I can get out of the general populace since everyone out there seems to think these are gold or something.

Im going to leave it as is for tires and such, Include the winch, and whatever spare parts I have for it. Like 3 99% perfect doors.

I was going to either....

A. Put fender flares along the current cut line, then just have my wife post it on FB for $10k and see what happens.

Or
B. Fix the floors and rear corner of the cab, install the doors, put a single stage paint job on it, the same fender flares, and post it on FB and BAT with price of $25000 and like a $20k reserve for BAT. (Never even really looked at the site, no idea how it works)
Either way I'd just see if anyone offered me anything close to what I want and go with it probably.

I don't want to. I just don't live in a cool place where I can drive down the road a little bit and wheel.
I do however have a drag strip 15 miles from my house, and there's multiple car shows all over around town. Perfect for the burb and cutlass.

It just seems to make sense.
Somebody needs to enjoy it, and use it for what it was built for.

If selling i say show as is or do a few quick & simple fixes you KNOW you can get payback on in sale . . Otherwise not worth it if you are done with it and selling it .

I totally understand your reasoning, it's the same reasons that I parted mine out. List it up and see what interest you get and go from there.

Keep it.

Let it simmer for awhile
They don't get mad when they sit. Hate for you to sell it then be like dang what the heck was I thinking. Reread the build thread helps to keep it in perspective.

I want to really.

It just does me no good.

I haven't the time or money to trek it to all the cool places. Even 1 a year is kind of out. To anywhere more the than 4 hrs away anyway.
It started out to be my forever truck. The dream I've had for years. Short bed, 1ton, big block, etc.
And was going to be my DD .

But with no where to play with it. And having the 2016 now, (which I need for towing), I don't have the use for it.
Any 4x needs I have my 2016 will do in stock form.
So I just can't see keeping it:frown.

This has actually been about 2 years coming. I've been pulling my hair out about it for that long now.
So not a rash decision.
My wife and Kaz were strongly against it for quite a while. But then after never using it, neither one really said much the last time I brought up selling it.

Kaz has fallen in love with burnouts, and Chrissie can't drive this truck. She can drive the other 2.
So it's definitely going. I just gotta come up with all the pics and make some listings now.

If you got to sell it, do that.

Dream truck that doesn’t get used and could spend the money on projects that aren’t a priority or dream vehicle… I don’t think I’d be in any rush to sell. Unless you get an offer that can replace it.

I’ve sold to many regrets. I could make a list but I know anyone on here over 50 years old would have a list just as long.

3 years from 50. Very long list.
That's why this one has been being thought over for a few years. I actually told the wife in 22 that I wanted to sell it.
Been just balking because i really didn't want to.
I'm past that now. Still don't want to, but I'm past the sentimental hold.

Well then if you don’t sell it cheep it should be all good….
Till you see a good deal on a crew and get that itch again. :haha:

Anyone on here interested in this?
$8500.
Badlands 12k winch (the better of the 2), with the rope not cable. Mount able on either end with quick plugs.
I have three 99% perfect doors.
Bunch of inner door stuff like window stuff and handles and such.
Some new inner rockers, and a patch panel cut from another square for the passenger side rear cab ding .
Plus every single other small part for square bodies I can find in my shop.
Including the brand new summit painted headers I haven't even received to put in yet lol.
They'll be in the truck this weekend or so.

I'll try and link this into a complete vehicles thread too if I can.

I'm going to have the wife list it in about a week on market place and FB's squarebody syndicate.
