Should I swap to a 6.2/6.5?

Intresting discussion, Here is my 2Cents. if you already have a FI sbc then why not try and maximize it potential? you already have the makings for it?? The 6.2 as I have read was in place of the 305 in certain situations?? made to fit in the same space and provide the same mileage? Power wise they are close..

I wouldn't go cummins for a few reasons.. 4bt and 30mpg (unicorn)
weight, makes mpg worse.. why add 600 more lbs to reduce consumption??
Cost.. duh.
Ls1 similar mileage, heck even your tpi engine tuned should be really close on mpg if you tweaked the tune some??

Id turbocharge the sbc before I swapped anything.. what might be killing you is the fact you go so high the engine just plain looses it efficiency.. obviously turbos or any sort of FI bumps the VE of your engine.. turbos are nice because they are load based.. so lower rpm high load should net better torque and work the engine less than now where you might have to rev it more..

Just an idea?? fix it till its broke..

Opinions seem sound except cummins part .

If ls engine can get 18, 6.5 get 20, the 4bt doing 30 is absolutely possible.

4bt weighs in at 700+ lbs. So couple hundred more pounds than sbc?

Cost? Not sbc costs but not crazy either. Paid 1800 for 4bt. 1000 for nv4500. 300 for misc?

Downside as I mentioned is noise. And what I think is the biggest hurdle- fab work.

Waterous Power Systems. Field service. I did everything. There was between three and five of us. I got 50% power generation. 50% oilfield. 50% OTR. 1% ag.

Worked on an industrial MBE in a barn once. In some sort of silage chopping machine. That was enough of that for a career right then.

In a CLAAS chopper I would assume. There is a big feed lot here where I live now, and they have some CLAAS. I know some guys from the Omaha branch of Interstate Power Systems had to come work on them. They seemed lost working on them. Ag and industrial are pretty different.

A 305 is the same size as a 350. Or a 400. Or a 265.
