I need to replace the seats (it's all torn up) in my new-to-me tow rig (M1008) and I'm looking for options.

Bench, buckets, what have you guys liked?

2000 chevy 1500 seats, I built mounts for them, they have the seatbelts mounted in the seats already, but some guys mount them straight to the floor.

Hard to beat a nice cloth bench.

The one in mine is like sitting on the sofa at home. In a pinch you can lay on it to sleep. It will seat 3 if need be. I have a plastic cup holder thing in the center of mine to hold drinks.

In a truck I prefer a bench. Especially a single cab.

I put grand cherokee seats in Horton (which is a pickup) and they are way comfy. I may eventually put them in my dually too.

It did take some fab but that's not a problem for you

What ZJ/WJ?

I need to start over and the seats that are in it suck, bad.

Looking for options, fab work is definitely not a factor. Looking for something that is comfy, it is a tow rig after all

ZJ pretty sure. I doubt they were WJ seats not new enough. Some guy actually had em sitting in an XJ claiming they would bolt in but they were definitely not XJ seats and I later found some in a ZJ that looked the same but were leather. These are cloth comfy too :D

You pretty much have to cut off the whole mounting system leaving just the rails. I put mine to a tube on my floor but it would not be too hard to make a bracket to bolt them to the stock holes in the floor.

I can go take some detail pics if you want

Yep. I like a nice bench in a single cab. Although I liked the fancy split bench in my '99 Ram 1500 and am liking the idea of swapping in some sort of newer GM split bench seats or something.

Yea I would love to see pics as well. I want to put in a 40/20/40 in the front. Anybody use anything newer than newer than 2000 that the_mule used that would work in a K5? Sorry to highjack.

yeah yeah

yeah yeah a pic is worth a million words blah blah, full disclosure I stole this from someone else on here. The bolts going through the seats are 4" long and go through the floor and through a piece of 3/16" steel that is 36" running front to back. The seat set also had a middle seat that might have bolted in over the transmission tube, which would have made the seat continue the entire width, but I didn't use it as it was only a small seat not a center console it did have some cup holders though.

For anyone making mounts for their seats, DONT use old bed frame! It is hardened steel and sucks to drill through. I dont know why I used that for my seat frame and center console....

not easy to use the bucket/bench seats in a truck, the floor has a hump in a single cab, not flat like the K5's. Your goinna have to mod the floor.

You can usually mod the seat to make it work, most likely why Chris asked. See what others had done to get a good idea of what seats you can use. My seats I cut all the mounting tabs off and made my own did not need to level the floor like the above pic

In a Blazer or Jimmy the floor is flat, trucks they are not. I just wanted to give him a heads up because all the replies were about seat swaps in blazers, none about trucks which is what he asked.

I made a pair of bucket seats from an 80's mercury Topaz fit my '74 GMC by mounting them on a frame (made of bed frame!--and yes,it does suck to drill,so I used my torch to blow holes in it where bolts needed to go!)...they were too "straight up" though, and they hit the rear wall of the cab, which limited the amount I could move them back--maybe not a big deal for some guys, but I'm 6'5" tall and need the seats WAY back in order to drive it!..I kept the seats and frame when I scrapped the truck, but doubt I'd ever use them in my '82 GMC,though they are the right color!..I had the frame they sat on bolted to the bench seat tracks so bith seats moved if you adjusted them...my passengers hated that!..

I had a nice power bench seat with a 60/40 split and a fold down center arm rest/cup holder in my 72 K5.I think it was from a 70's or 80's Caddy,it was in a '71 Suburban I'd bought as a parts truck--all it took to hook up was one power wire and ground, all the motors and such were mounted right to the bottom of the seat..it was comfy as a couch and after I put it in,I had to be careful not todoze off on long thrip,it was so comfortable...took a bit of "rigging" to get it bolted to the floor, but not that bad a job...

I like the buckets from older Dodge Caravans with the fold down arm rests...buckets dont fit well in pickups unless they are the factory ones though ,the cab wall needs to be farther back--in an extended cab truck theye'd work better..
