so holley sniper feedback has me thinking . . . fire in the hole . . . BOOM !

Now, i think this drop-in module from holley is a very good thing. The only issue is i would think you would need to get your tank steam-cleaned by someone who knows what they're doing or risk blowing yourself to the moon when you drill the hole for the module?

Those modules make no sense in these rigs. The TBI sender is available and works, use it. I thought Holley's Hydramat would be a boon, but they don't make any that mate up to any of the gen1 GM EFI pumps like we use. So it's worthless too.

Hit Holley up and tell them to make hydramat for the TBI/TPI/Vortec Delco fuel pumps. The more people that do, the more likely they are to listen.

That or someone come up with a TBI sender with a cylindrical sheet metal sump that fits over the stock sender and fits in through the existing sending unit hole.

Edit: and the Spectra tanks aren't junk quality, they just didn't replicate the GM sump for squat. The plating seems to hold up fine, I've got no rust issues inside or outside of mine, which is what I would expect from OEM. Our options for tanks are pretty limited, nothing wrong with the Spectra quality compared to other tanks I'm aware of.

Is the 87-91 tbi sender still available from gm?

2) Allow me to clarify my position on Spectra: i am not saying Spectra sucks. i am open and allowing the possibility that they may be good. i just don't trust them. An analogy to this may be, i think "Dr." Christine Ford may very well be a good person, she may even be telling the truth, i just don't trust her.........................................................that's all i'm saying (and i'm liberal too).

I'd question the pump 100X over before the spectra sending unit or tank for that matter. There's a reason why many of us carry trail spares and have inspection panels installed on our bed floors.

I've had my spectra for ~10 years(?). I wouldn't question its quality of build.

I'd for sure paint it in something as rust protective as possible, maybe even bedliner. I don't recall thinking it felt cheaper, or didn't fit right when I got it, unlike much aftermarket metal, where they cheap out and go thin. Pretty much identical to GM, save that sump.

i even got this handy little guy for 55 bucks shipped . cliped right on the line and gave me 2x 1/8" pipe thread ports for what ever . so i added my fuel pressure sender in 1 port .

first pic is stright one . i got the angled 1 for late model corvette engine stuff . worked better for me .

I have two new Spectra TBI saddle tanks in my truck. The only thing I saw that was not as good as the factory tanks where the baffles for the fuel pumps, in order to prevent excessive fuel splashing from making it hard for the fuel pumps to maintain consistent fuel pressure. Maybe Spectra did not think that was as much of an issue as GM thought it was.

heck for 3-4 years i ran a spectra tbi tank sideways in the bed toolbox of my old plow truck . got real low lots of times but no problems. . . other than the fuel level gauge didnt like it a few times on hard corners . the gauge would move a lot .

What is this?

@vandelay industries exactly what i said it was .

unclip your fuel line .

install there unit .

use 1 or 2 of the 1/8" pipe thread ports .

install fuel line back on the new inlet port .

and fire up and check for leaks .

it gives you a place to pull fuel for nitrous oxide fuel feed . or add in a fuel pressure gauge port ( like i did ) little siver knob .

makes it stupid easy plug-n-play hook up of the fuel line .

So much you spraying? Just a little 100 shot for a little boost to hit the snowbank while plowing??
:burnout:

This has been driving me nuts. I keep thinking my saddle tanks would work much better if I could just use the hydramat in place of the suction filter.

Since I am running just a 1/8" bored-out from stock GM TBI unit, I am running an AC/Delco EP377 pumps inside my new Spectra saddle tanks. The EP377 pumps are rated at 30 PSI max, and my built in TBI fuel pressure regulator is set a 13 PSI. Since my fuel system will only see maximum 30 PSI (most of the time less), I am running only the stock fuel injection hose and factory steel lines in my fuel system.

its ALIVE !

the dam ecu tablet thingy has a mind of its own . it picks options on the touch screen all by its self and no fingers or stylis pen around it . . . . WHAT THE ? ? ? :1zhelp:

@mrk5

some of the fitech handhelds screws where to tight and would do crazy things....

Anymore, it doesn't surprise me when electronics do odd things and then mysteriously fix themselves. You know the IT guys favorite question, did you try turning it off and back on? That's what I always ask people.
