i wish i knew how to do all that stuff.

i like watching fullsize guys build trucks cause they're not afraid to spend money and they don't dick around 31" tires. they go big.:D

 DANG DUDE! Wish I could just get bored and go build a truck one week...lol. It takes me months to do what you do in a day. It looks awsome
thanks,
James

The funny thing is, this truck hasn't cost that much $$

I figure when it is done... INCLUDING the purchase of the Runner, the used engine, the new clutch, the SAS, suspension, dual cases, front locker (rear is welded), tires, wheels, shocks, sliders, histeer, stereo, etc.... I will end up w/ a VERY capable rig and be in it under 3500 bucks TOTAL!!!

... and the sweet thing is I drove it home from building it at my parents about 180 miles away on around 7 gallons of fuel...

you expect the birfields to last with those big heavy Michelins?

looks sweet man. I often wish I had found a Toyota. There is a solid axle for one sitting in a junkyard where I get crap cheap.

...no  I actually expect to blow them up next weekend when I go snow camping for 3 days... then she will just stay parked until I can buy the 30spline Bobby Long Chromo Jones Action Birfs!

I love it! I just got done doing an exo on a yota and it has me thinking. Not that I could ever let go of the K5 but an extra toy(pun intended) would be fun.

Now we know how easy and quick it is to do all that stuff we'll all be doing it!! lol. Nice work fella.

so when this one gets "beat" are you going to unload it to for new bling? I dunno... whole process seems like a downgrade in search of bling. maybe thats just me.

There was no downgrade and no bling involved... I got really tired of not being able to drive my rig. Don't have a trailer to tow it, etc... I just wanted to build something that I can put my kids in the back of and feel safe driving to the trail, wheeling all day, and then driving home... the K5 didn't fit that anymore and having a trailer only rig got really old really fast. And I don't see what you are calling a "Downgrade"? I think that my Yota is going to be every bit as capable as the K5 was, more reliable, more affordable, and more usable? If that is a downgrade then dip me in honey and feed me to the lesbians because I am all for it.

Dude I'm really not all that into the toyotas, but it is definatly cool. What motor are you running? Let us all know what it's like off road. Looks fun and wicked capable.

I understand most of the people here aren't Yota guys... I never was either until I got one. I am not a very brand loyal guy... I don't care if it is a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Yota, Sami, etc... (but Jeeps are still gay.. :D ). I have been around this site for years w /the progress and then the final demise of my K5...so I thought it was only appropriate to have a thread about what followed her up.

I am just running a stock injected 22RE, 5spd, dual cases, and 4.10's. I am probably in the summer going to either add a 4.7 to 1 kit in the rear case, or add a 3rd range box to triple case the bastard.

Nice yota :D I love it.
I've been thinking for some time now about getting a toyota. my neighbor across the street as an 87 IFS 4runner that is going to be selling soon for real cheap. I might pick it up. and build that up to a nice crawler. I've been reserching them the last couple of months on pirate. they seam real easy to build up just like the chevys and cheap. So I might be saying bye bye to my suburban soon. Or turn it back to stock and make it my hauler for the yota :D

I love toys as much as the next guy, I even plan on building a single seat toy buggy... but no toy front axle is better or even an "even trade" for a D60. Its all good, whatever works for ya... just wondering whats gonna happen when the toy gets beat to ****...

Last Saturday I added a homemade winch mount, some wiring, and a front locker (Aussie Locker). No pictures yet, but I am hoping to get some in the next few days.
