So who actually uses their trucks anymore?

What kind of tires are you running and what is the width of the rims and the tires? Is there a lift on your truck? I really like the way it sits. I've got an 82 K30 and I'm trying to figure out what size tires I want to run. I don't have a lift on mine. Thanks in advance.

Check out the www link in my profile that goes to my CarDomain page.

1" ORD zero rates in the front and that's it other than cutting.

Stock 2007 GMC 1 ton 16x6.5" wheels
11.00R16 Michelin XL's (38x11ishR16) off of a USMC LAV-25 (they surplused them all out a few years ago and they're getting harder to find now)

The truck still gets driven on a once a week basis as a daily driver just to keep the fluids fresh, and avoid the dreaded rusting in place syndrome that is claiming the camaro :(

also serves as the general purpose hauling rig for the family. top soil, mulch, trash, landfill runs, moving furniture for buddies, camping, pretty much a mixed bag of life uses. But no, not a whole lot of need for the truck in car sales. cant say as i throw a bunch of people in the bed and drive them around the car lot ;)

right now the bed is being held down by the H1 rims, and the equipment from my last camping outting, but is normally empty save for a tool box.

Sadly I havent done any real off roading in a long time. Just cant get anyone around here to go. I dont like to wheel alone.

I drive my truck once a week on the weekends just to get rid of the cobwebs. Ill take it down to the beach and flog it around some. On occasion I lock the hubs and give it a drive a mile or so. Infact I need to do that soon.

Otherwise, its just a weekend grocery getter.

I drive my 79 GMC daily. Wheel it as often as I can, not many places here in NJ:mad:
Regularly use it to haul parts, scrap, and tow my 18 foot car trailer.
Although now I have a new tow rig.

Yes I know its 2wd....but not for long:D
Watch for a build thread as soon as I get to work on it.

My truck is the tow/travel rig. I drive it every weekend, travel in it, sleep in it, and most of the time have a boat behind it.

God i love beating on that thing. My favorite line when we are using it is "don't' scratch the paint!" hahaha:haha:

My K5 gets daily driven, and worked a little bit.

The old C10 is the resident beater/farm truck that gets abused about everytime it leaves the shed. Also does duty for hauling my atv around. Right now its got a snowmobile sitting in the back of it.

When I get my K10 mobile again im sure I will work it since it will be a 3/4 ton and 4x4.

I dont have many work photos but heres the best ive got.
My old Blazer really got worked! That was the farm truck, toy hauler, dd, wheeler, everything. It got retired and sold though.

'89 suburban used for remodeling, rescuing bits and pieces from my favorite secondhand auto salvage store, getting me to work, picking up trail trash, hauling trailer for firewood, dump runs, rescueing other people's broke stuff and occasionally the wife's ford escort, and one of these days i'll convince the wife it's a sweet make out wagon!:D

diggin' the burbs that have posted!

Shweet!

Hahaha, I have a K5 story about stumpin'.

Guy across the street from my folks is a good 10-15 years younger than my parents. This happened in the late 80's- very early 90's so he couldn't have been much past 30 (wait, that's my age:crazy:). At any rate he had a large oak tree die in his front yard and decided to cut it up and get rid of it. He does this but the stump, which is quite large, confounds him. He digs all around it, hacks at the roots, and then resorts to his truck...

He had a pretty new and fairly pretty S10 extended cab 4x4 at this time. Might have even been a 2.8L screamer in that time frame.

We still had our '76 K5 Blazer. 350 Quadrajet, TH350, NP203, 31's, bone stock, bright ass orange with a black top, etc. It was starting to show it's age by this time. Bit crusty around the edges but ran well and got us around from new to 1993 when they finally had gotten a new Blazer ('92).

...so his daughters are over hanging out at our house to keep them out of his hair and mom happens to hear one of them saying he's getting his truck out. Mom goes over and offers to bring the Blazer over and yank the stump using the hitch but he's not going for it. Says nah and I just remember getting the feeling he was sorta dissing on our "old Blazer". Mom says whatever and we proceed to watch him jerk the stump a few times...
...then rip one of his tow hooks, the end of that frame rail, and that side of his bumper clean off.:haha::haha::haha::haha::bow::doah:

Next thing we know mom has the Blazer over and jerks the stump out in 4lo.
(Keep in mind mom's in her 40's, 5'4" and 125lbs) He seemed a bit embarrassed.:p:

Next thing we knew though he had a 89-91 K5 and the S10 was gone. He still always has a fullsize GM SUV in the stable.:D

stumpin is fun. i'll have to dig out the video of bigugly earning it's keep (rest in pieces)

Brought home about 1k pounds of dirt for the garden today.

IMG_0609.jpg

Made it a little saggy in back, but even with a half ton over the rear axle and the rear springs in full contact with the overloads, the back end still rode 10x better than the front. :o

IMG_0611.jpg

Need to get those 52" springs swapped up front.

Not my DD, but I try to drive it once a week between "upgrades".
