Somebody here is tracking Chalets...not sure if this one is accounted for?

Thats a hell of a good price considering the outrageous prices i have seen in the last few years.
Yeah that thing needs a lot of work especially the rust.
I foolishly sold my rust free, clean complete chalet for $2500.
I hope the guy that finally got it is enjoying it like I did for about 10 years.

My old 76 is going bye bye in the near future. The camper is being restored slowly currently. The K5 portion is rusted out and just not worth the hassle so its going on my 90 Jimmy. Cost me $1300 for a new custom built rear door installed. Next all the holes are being filled in save the 2 side windows and the propane door. Front windows always leaked so they are getting glassed in. Looking for used or new 40x24 side windows to replace the side windows with modern units. They are affordable on ebay but don't ever get a quote for new 23x40's...ouch.

I think this is the way to go on some of the old chalets. Guys get too hung up on keeping it original. Extreme rust issues seem to be a common theme on old chalets. The real nice ones have been restored and the others just drift from owner to owner without getting back on the road. If a camper in decent shape can be saved by putting it on a late model body/chassis I am all for it.

Even if the chalet is not in a good condition it makes it more acceptable to modify it.
I have a shell that has seen better days and I had most of the interior for it but it was already stripped to get the repairs done and I look at the parts, they are not good enough, I can do better so it will be built with custom interior.
I even want to see if I can fit the windows from my conversion van that I am parting, they are much better.

to me.... if your gonna use it, I agree 100%... why not have it convenient for you! now if you want to flip it, that too is tough. Hard core wanna be owners want OEM sweet lookin rigs where todays kids want that old school but modern day stuff...

First to go was the rear door. The rear doors are junk in stock form. I had already rebuilt mine many moons ago when i first bought her in Tucson. This cost me around $1400 bonez but shops tack on their mark up when they order the door....shipping is retarded anymore and with my living conditions and odd job i have no where and no time to attempt it myself.

Next they are glassing in the front windows. All they do is leak. I have spent way to much money over the years having them resealed. Also you will see in the old lift in progress picture what is getting glassed in on the drivers side.

Yeah I am one of those today's kids, 52 year old kid. :)

So you are not going to use,the water tank, the heater, the refrigerator, or the a/c power,I had to replace my back door 3 times, now looking at a wood door or anything that wood work but it looks nice.

The only thing i am sure about using is a diesel fired Webasto air topper for heat in the camper. Couldn't pass on the 360 brand new in the bos price. Once the interior takes shape...ie: new side windows, insulation, paneling , flooring etc i'll kinda wing it from there once i have a more solid interior to work from.
