Soooo I did the stack this weekend......

I am not trying to get in the middle of a fight here but...

That setup would work fine for a sports car or whatever, but this is supposed to be a DD, and if the exhaust exited the way that engine is setup, then it would exit out the front fenders.

I think the setup he has would be the least restrictive without having the exhuast exiting directly beneath his truck, or out either side of the front end.

Its illegal to have exhaust exit infront of the passenger compartment if you drive on the road here anyways. how can people not understand how unrestrictive a 5" ID pipe is..........has no one held 5" exhaust pipe before. Or am I just retarded.

this is a 24valve. hence all the electronics.

I have a 12 valve P7100 pumped Cummins in the garage with a 3K GSK kit, zero plate, lazercut, delivery valves.

just don't like how you can the expansion from 5" to 6"
why can't people speak english anymore.

I wonder how many people here know that you're a Red Seal heavy duty mechanic who actually works on this kind of stuff every gawdamn day.......

back pressure? with a single stack? last i herd the dual stack kit actualy adds backpressure. But yea anyway just ignore the ignorant that includes me.

My only concern is that it makes the exhaust work that much harder to expel the gases. It has to climb a vertical chamber now to exit. The exhaust pulses will start to back up somewhat when climbing the stack.

Another thing is that turbo's (assuming you have a Cummins) don't like exhaust systems. The shorter the exhaust pipe, the better.

I would say it might hinder HP/torue rather than help it.

And it appears you might have to make a shroud to protect anything that might touch it during transport of anything in the back of the truck.

Um..... you accidently clicked the wrong thread.... this is the thread about a high HP Cummins DIESEL, not gas engines.

The thread you must have meant to post in was with the guy wanting to build a twin turbo gas 350......:p:

Since gas and diesel engines like their exhaust system much different... I'll leave it at that.

Demon....

Looks good man, I like the single stack myself. Although, i would have made it about 6" shorter. I'm in love the the 7" single stacks that a bunch of guys are going with now. They look and sound rediculous!

I dunno................its obviously not apparent that I do actually know what I'm doing.

......and I would have liked to see it 6" shorter overall as well, but 36" was the shortest pipe our Peterbilt dealer had. and I couldn't cut it with the 5 to 6 inch step at the bottom of the pipe. but I can also get 7" & 8" step pipes over the counter at my local Pete If I ever feel the need/

But they should stop it............ I can't handle the level of asshat in here anymore.

Dude, have you taken your lithium today  ????

You've really gone emo :doah:  !!!!

Your name-calling only indicates to me you haven't bought your big-girl pants yet.

Rjfguitar clarified in one post how I WAS WRONG.

My only experience with turbo's is when I built my 600+ HP Toyota Supra ten years ago.

My ORIGINAL post was based on general principles of turbos. Where I went wrong was mixing apples and oranges by failing to understand diesels and gas engines work differently with turbos.

Maybe that's his problem.

Maybe he ASSUMED that I knew his portfolio.

ok ok, edit this a little.

You weigh in right off the top like you know what you were talking about. implying I'm wrong about something I've done. I've been trying to understand WTF you were talking about....and It turns out you don't even konw what you're talking about.

Alright I says to myself.....Self, time to let it go.

I threw the bearing box in because I think its funny and appropriate. don't get your panties in a knot.

i kinda like it. but i am not a big fan of single stacks or stacks in general. i think it would look a little better with daul stacks. just my 2 cents

Wow, I'm kind of suprised that so many people like function following form with the dual stacks. Personally, I like the single because there's one exhaust off the turbo.

Even with the dual stacks there is only one pipe off the turbo, it just splits in the bed into dual stacks

That's why I say function following form. If there were twin turbos (in parallel, not series) then I could see the need for two stacks.
