Spindle Headache and Rotor Question

you ain't kidding man. I can usually find some off the wall solution but this has me jammed up bad. Got a ton of work waiting on me and if I lose it this time I'm losing our place to live too. For me when it rains it breaks the dam :(

Was the hub that came w/ your replacement assy not worth using? Sounds like you're going to need a press to get those old bearings out.

Drill wont scratch a ball bearing..maybe a carbide masonary bit will, but wont last more than a hole or two..

I'd take that spindle to a gas station that has a torch, and have them blow out the ball bearings...or put it in a press and force it apart hydraulically..

Josh the hub and spindle both look good. I just need to get the old ones off to use them.
Diesel the truck is stuck in a parking lot,no way to move no money for a tow. Have to get the old ones off where it sits and put "new" ones on.

I just need to get clearance to pull hub/rotor off over the remnants of the bearing.
BFH and just beat on it til the bearing cage comes apart. I did one on a semi once with inboard mount drums and had to break the drum apart with a sledge hammer to get at the spindle bolts to remove the whole assembly. Good luck!

The outer part of the cage,or most of it, is already out. That was the plan at the beginning. I'm stopping at Harbor Freight for a cheap cold chisel because mine is blunt now. Thanks everyone I appreciate the advice and will be using all the shared knowledge I can to get this fixed.

Ah, didn't realize the hub was still stuck on the spindle. can you get a puller of some sort to work on that? pull on lug nuts against end of spindle?

You could try putting the tire & rim back on with two lugs screwed on just a few threads, and pull outward on it,use it as a big slide hammer..or if you have a "junk" rim,put it on and smash it with a sledge hammer from the diff side..

THANKS guys for the ideas and moral support  I'm rolling again
Apparently hauling the weight of that generator around pays off great

I put new rotors on a few weeks ago and noticed there was a little play between the rotor and hub. The studs seated all the way but there was just a hair of jiggle room on the passenger rotor, the drivers side seated fine and was tight. I had replaced the bearing then too. There was an intermittent [tic]......[thunk] sometimes when I was doing around 20,25 mph. This morning that sound was back and I'm assuming it's the play in the rotor.
2 questions: Can this play damage anything? And could it be a vibration from this that ruined the bearing? I blamed overtightening of the inner lock nut for wrecking the bearing this time but wonder if the rotor had anything to do with it.
