The other day I noticed a mid 70s square body on the highway. I got to thinking its been a long time since I've seen one on the road.

There are eight on my street. Three I can see from my front yard if you don't count mine.

There is a guy a few blocks from me that has 10 70s/80s in his yard

I saw three today while on my 30minute drive to the house here in central TX between 0200-0230hrs, I think that says something seeing how few cars are on the road at these hrs! :saweet:

I see "some" still putting around town and the back roads, not so many on the interstates, most are just as rusty as mine is--others are the showboat and cruise night restored ones,or a grandpa that is still using his as a daily driver..but they are getting scarcer as time passes..

I see 3-4 K5's around here on the road, think it's high school kids driving them. Makes be think of myself and the square body crew that all hung out in H.S. back in the day. :k5: :truck: :burb: :crewcab: :usaflag:

I still see several setting behind houses/trailers but they normally name a price that extremely high.

I will be adding one more to the road soon.

There are actually quite a few squares running around here. Some pretty dang nice ones actually! I should start snapping pics. I think most of them are HS kids.

There are 5 in my driveway! 2 of which get daily driven different times of the year. Both get moderate highway use, but one is very thirsty so it's kept to a minimum. Lot's of squares around here still!

Plenty where I live.

A couple really nice restored ones. Some like mine, a bunch of flatbeds.

Rarely see them during the week but my commute is only 4 miles.

I think a lot of the issue here is that the metal recycling center is in our county and all of the surrounding counties bring all of the old squares in for cash.

The recycling center will not sale them to you even if you offer way more than the scrap price.:dunno:

I've even chased people down to try and buy them before they get there but I find most just wanted to go on to the scrap yard and turned me down. It just hurts my heart seeing them go. :frown1:

Saw 3 on my way to work this morning. I always see a couple every time I drive around here. Some real nice, some in decent shape, and some look like typical construction trucks that are hammered...but still rocking

Well, I at least took 1 out of your driveway a few years ago, haha. By the way...not sure if you have seen, but the CC is getting closer and closer to being a nice tow rig (and running, ahaha)

I'm actually surprised at how many I see around here. Quite a few of them are 70's vintage, probably the majortiy, which I would have figured there would be more from the 80s. I often wonder if it has to do with the cutoff for collectors plates.

You rarely see any "round eyes" here--the few square bodies I see locally are usually 1980's to 1990 ones...probably more of the 80's vintage left around here than any other years..

It seems most people bought the "new body style" '88 and up trucks when they first came out,you do not see many 1990-91 square body trucks here, only some utility body or 1 ton fleet trucks and Suburbans once in a while...K5's you very rarely ever see newer than 1988 models here..
