Squarebody CHOP Shop

I was able to get the ground leveled for the second container with a plan to finish up the c container shelter this weekend.

However, mother nature went a different direction. I woke up to reports of a 20 acre wild fire Saturday morning about 25 miles east. Winds at the time out of the east pushing it our direction.

I ripped out all of the vegetation next to the house that morning just in case and started tracking the fire reports. It was 2000 acres burning by that evening but still over 20 miles out. They also started getting organized evacuation zones issued by that evening. I'm still outside of those areas but one friend was on the edge of a prepare to evacuate notice so we helped move her horses to another property farther way from danger. She also stayed the night with us to get away from the smoke a bit.

Sunday the wind has died down and the fires are not moving far. Fire crews are focusing on protecting structures and cutting fire lines to direct the fire north of highway 2 into the wilderness. I'm on the south side of the valley/ highway. We also had the wind shift out of the west so it slowed the spread my direction but still grew to 8000 acres by Sunday evening.

There is a little rain in the forecast as well over night. Hopefully it passes over the affected area and gives us a little help.

Fire danger has become a non-issue. Cooler, wet weather has moved in.

Today I finished up leveling for the second container and moved it into position. I'm about 12-12.5" away from the final location though thanks to metric imports. I went for 20'-0" spacing between containers but the instructions call for 19'-2.31" spacing (5850 mm).

Another screenshot. Right now I am looking at adding a 10 x 28 foot mezzanine and 5 x 8 foot bathroom in the shop. My friend has a pile of glue lam beams I can get for the project so I needed to estimate what I needed. Eventually I would like to replace the 10 x 7 foot doors with 12 x 14 foot doors and add a 4 post lift or two, but likely only enough room for one if I want to get the dump truck or deuce in a bay without the lift.

Saw a video on youtube recently that may have used this same system. Hows it working out? Really like to see how long the cover holds up.

I like the skeletons, but if your truly wanted a scary decoration you could just put a high mileage 6.2 diesel out there. Maybe even pull the crankshaft out, that would scare most people I'd think.

Lol.
Looks great by the way.
