What's that big drum and lever in the back, some sort of parking brake or something? I was going to guess a damper something but then I saw the lever...just curious, always something to learn...
Driveline parking brake. Common on medium duty trucks with hydraulic brakes. Sometimes it's on the trans and sometimes it's on the differential.

Also, there is no parking pawl , or position , on those medium duty trans - they gotta have an external brake.
With such high GVW’s an internal pawl would never survive - the external brakes are very effective.

Even my e450 cutaway van has that trans brake
Come to think of it, I have an sm465 from a chevy c60 with a drum brake setup at the tail too from the 70s

Some time in the last couple weeks my water heater started leaking. Old one is now disconnected and ready to pull a soon as it finishes draining.

New one is in but the top hoses may need to be replaced. It seems there is plastic in the connection that making it hard to get a good seal.

It is hardish rubber seal. Those lines should always be replaced when the water heater is swapped. The seals will retain the indentation from the previous installation. And usually leak.

Today we are getting hit by the first major storm of the year, a bomb cyclone. 50-70 mph wind gusts with 20-30 mph sustained winds. The storm started picking up around 2pm and us expected to last through early morning.

I got a call from people helping to rescue a car trapped in down trees a couple miles down the road. I used the tractor to clear the road after they cut them up. The whole time you could hear trees coming down around us.

Just as I got home, the power went out so I went and pulled the generator out and got that up and running. Horses are spooked with nowhere to go, so they are out in the weather afraid of the barn. But it will be the safest place for them.

Power is now back on, about 24 hours after the storm started, 19 hours after it went out. Most of the surrounding area is still out of power. My little generator did a good job running the fridge and both upright freezers along with essential electronics. No damage to my property or vehicles but I did have a loose inner fender fly from the rear of the shop to the front yard in front of the shop somehow. Likely went up and over the shop roof.
