Squirrel's M1009 build (updated 7-17-11)

Is the center pin location centered on the leaf springs? Maybe it has a long side/short side to the pack and one is "backwards".

The pin is centered I did check that. But I didn't check the spring pack itself. I was too happy to see it on the ground. I will measure it tonight.

Just got a call that my wheels and tires are in from Trail Worthy fab. So I iwll be picking them up on the way home from work:woot:

finally on 4 of the same size tire. they aren't my beadlocks but for now it will do. i have to still mount the tires to the wheels for the 37s but that can wait till i button up the truck mechanically. right now it sits at 47" to the top of the fender well.

today i got the D60 in and i am so happy that it went smoother than the rear. took about 4hrs to swap them. but i ended up breaking one of my brake lines in the process so i am going to order up a new set for the whole truck just to be safe.
i also need to grab some new u-joints. i put the napa #447 in for the 14bolt but forgot to grab the others. I also need to get the steering figured out. the front axle came with a drop arm that doesn't match up to what i have. i am assuming that is for the 2wd steering box? I didnt take pictures of it so i have nothing to show for reference.
other than that all i need to do is crack open the diffs and clean them out make sure no water got in. refill with oil and I'm set.

since you have the tape measure, check your alignment, I could swear you have the tires pointing out on both sides.:eek1:

So what's up with the rear end? Unless the pics are just crazy it's definitely sitting sideways under the body. The driver's side looks like it's forward and the passenger side looks like it's back.

I'm with Avery, something is amiss with the rear install.

Yeah, im aware of the rear axle just havent gotten to it. i have slight ADD when i am working on projects. i see jump around a lot, when i see parts for another area of the truck i grab and go. i will get back to the axle eventually lol. :D

It has been awhile since i updated the trucks status here is where i stand as of today. The front and rear axle and been drained, cleaned up some rust from water in the diff and refilled. The truck did have Trailworthy Fab recenters on it, but i felt they were a bit too heavy for my liking and type of trails i go on so i switched to Pro Comp Steelies using the 37" Goodyear Military take offs.
Today i painted up my new Ballistic fab battery tray that i will be mounting in the rear near where the old spare tire mount was.
Once i cleaned up the garage and was ready to head inside i decieded to take the truck around the block which is maybe a half mile if that. When i parked the truck i noticed i had coolant leaking into the cab. So now up next for the truck is a new heater core. It looks pretty simple to do, I already checked out this article http://coloradok5.com/heatercore.shtml while i am at it i might as well replace all the hoses, not too sure how old they are.

That battery holder looks cool. The heater core can be a pain in the butt by the way. It's way easier if you have someone to help you. Blazer's looking good. :thumb:

How well do those 37s fit with a 4 inch lift? Wheel travel? Are you planning on cutting a little out of your fender?
I'm just curious because I love the look and would like to go about it my own way.

I haven't driven much on them yet but i did cut the fenders a when i had 41s on temporarily. I had no rub when turning, then again my trimming was probably overkill for these tires. I would say with 4" lift and minor a trim you would be fine. When work slows down and i get more time i will finish whats left and finally take the truck out for a proper drive.

Where did you get your shackles?(the ones for pulling, not the ones on the leaf spring) I can't seem to get ones that fit right on my m1009.
