Stock or 2in Lift Suspension Suggestions

Where can I get a set of factory springs? I’m fine with having a stock ride height, but seems like everything out there is for lifts. Or are you saying a used set of springs?
Also heard that a small lift helps with ride quality because it gives more travel room :dunno:

I run used springs from different trucks regularly. You can buy new stock replacement springs though. I don't think any off the shelf lift spring will ride as nicely as stock springs will.

My 89 on 2 1/2 skyjacker soft ride (24 years old), all spring w/1" addaleaf rear, Bilsteins, 33/12.50 bfg at on stock rallies. Rides tight, tracks straight. Long road trips are no problem. No hard stuff any more, but this worked very well for anything I did back when I could afford to fix it.

I also ran 33/12.50/15 bfg muds on 10" rallies, Skywalker shocks, with this lift. The wider track in front made it wander on road,, but worked better in mud.

@Wes Harden I just found those. Was going to post the same link. Looks like those are stock ride height. Not sure why I was having trouble finding them before.

I’m all over the place with what I want to do. When I started this thread I thought I had 4” and wanted it a little lower to 2”. Turns out I probably have 2” currently, so a little lower would be stock...man what to do lol.

Luckily the 33x10.5 tires I got should fit either way, so options are still open.
I really do like it when tires fill the wheel well, so if ride quality would be good at stock height, I may end up liking the look of that the most.

you can put these on and see what it looks like. If you think you want a bit more do the easy inch as suggested above. I think you will be happy with the ride quality, esp if you go bilsteins. double check that +2" will work for stock +1. You should wait till you settle on a ride hight to get your shocks. FIW I had the TC ez ride on 3/4 tom burb with 33 12.5 16.5 on 10 inch wheels. used the kit shocks it road great and only a touch of rub on very tight tight turns. I attribute the rub to the wide wheels.
Also I know you you don't have a garage to work out of, apartment ? iirc. I think you would benefit from a floor jack any way. I would recommend an aluminum 2ton + jack, and keep it in the truck. For flats and such. Plus you'll be able to try different things with your springs.

I keep the smallest ver of this jack in my Dune buggy

i got springs from these guys a few months ago before snow season . super happy with quality / ride / prices . ....... $40.00 per pack cheeper than sd truck spring

i did the HD option tho in 4 leaf for the size snow plow i run .

Thanks for the advice guys. I know I’m running around in circles on here

Maybe I will pick up a floor jack and see if I can keep it at my dads house in his garage. He only lives about an hour away, so I could grab it when I need it or just work in things there over a weekend. I already have a pickup truck with a cap that’s full of tools and other things I can’t fit in my apartment, I don’t want to start filling up the back of the Jimmy too lol

Hard to pass up spending $20 instead of $70. I could buy these 3 times before I make up buying Mcgards....are Mcgards really that high of quality?
I had a set on my old Landcruiser. They where the best lugnuts I’ve ever had. I’d buy them again for sure.

I did go with the Mcgards. They look great. We’ll see how they hold up

Poking around on SD Truck Springs, General Spring KC, & other sites to see what's out there. Still not sure what height I'm going to go with but doing a bit of research.

SD Truck Springs has different springs listed for 73-87 and 88-91 Blazers/Jimmys. I know there are some small differences in our trucks over the years, but seems like the specs are almost exactly the same for front. For rear, they are a little different but the most important specs seem the same or close.

73-87: front -- rear
88-91: front -- rear

The 73-87 springs are substantially cheaper. I'm wondering if there's any reason they wouldn't work? I obviously like the better price. Would move up the timeline for replacing shocks/springs.

Its metric bushings . They started . Suck that way . Unless you know all the differences then its a bit of a challenge to go backwards .

Do you remember if they were 33x12.5 or 33x10.5? I'm hoping I could get away with 33s on a 2in lift or stock if I reduce the width from 12.5 => 10.5. Or go with 32x11.5.
Late to the party, but I'm running 33x125s and have had no trouble with rubbing. AFAIK there's no lift on the truck, just stock ride height. Makes the wheel wells look nice and full.

Guess I'll have to stick with the more expensive 89-91 springs then. Bummer.

Found these guys. The Suspension King. Price is right for stock height springs but don't know if anyone has heard of them? I don't want to get horrible quality that I'll have to replace in a couple years.

Front
Back

There's 2 different options for both front & back. Each has one with lower load and lower leaf count, and one with higher load and higher leaf count. What's the significance of these numbers? Why would I want to go for 2 vs 3 leaves up front or 5 vs 6 leaves in the back? What differences am I going to notice with one vs the other?

The three pack leaf springs were optional on 1/2 and 3/4 tons, standard on 1 tons. I assume the two packs ride smoother, but I prefer the three packs. I have swapped them in place of a lot of three packs. They do raise the front slightly.

Can I hijack this thread for a sec? If not just yell at me and I'll go away. But I've been considering a 2" lift for my truck and wasn't sure if I needed a drop pitman arm or an adjustable drag link or maybe even a raised steering knuckle.

That will help the OP here so you are fine.
No need for steering correction on 2-3" lifts.
Once you get to 4" it makes a difference and any more than 4" you need to just to drive it.
