Stomis' 94 Street Truck - Snail Trail

Any area where there is a lot of semi-trucks is going to have a scale, including most truck stops. Many places have their own scales, especially heavy flatbed loads. I'd bet you could drive into a yard and get a guy to weigh you real fast for free... once it's running of course. :)

Yeah I plan on getting a total weight that way. But inorder to actually spec out springs you really need 4 corner accurate scales. Sure I could pull the front on and then the back but the local yard goes in 20# increments so being off could make a difference.

certified cat scales baby.

On another note. What's the spring rate of the factory V6 springs?

I honestly dont know enough about springs. I need to do some serious reading. The factory truck v6 springs are right around 850 lb/in. Today I put in some 2000 chevy v6 springs that were 750ish lb/in and the damn truck looked like it had a lift kit in it... Ironically the springs had very similar free heights so I kind of assumed that the truck would have come down further with a similar free height on a lesser spring strength but apparently not so much...

I just threw the towel in and put the damn drop springs I had from before in it. Changing the coils 3 times in 2 days sucked...

But at least it sits how I want now...

The only problem with these is they're stiff correct? But they should function to get you by until you can get weighed?

Theyre not insanely stiff. The truck doesnt drive bad or anything. I was just trying to find something a little lighter given the fact that the front came up from losing weight.

Im not even sure Im going to bother continuing to search for coils. I'll weigh it and spring it correctly when I do coilovers.

Finally did something to this thing...

Threw my center caps on, whoopty do lol.

I also cut the piece of tube out of my engine crossmember and boxed the rack crossmember out. It bothered me everytime I got under the truck that it looked like a cluttered mess. Like one was done after the other with no regard towards tying them together. So fixed it.

I also wanted to do that so I have a place to mount the front brake line that crosses to the pass side.

Well I picked up an Hfreight tube notcher. Way better than not having anything thats for sure.

I put on the front crash bar and took pictures of it but my phone was a dick and is just corrupting all my photos now, so I took some again and it did it again...

Gonna order up the front glass bumper soon. Lots of side work going on so thats a good thing.

I don't suppose you have any idea how much weight you have pulled out of this rig?

A decent amount for sure. At least 200lbs. Im going the cheap way with the manual brakes. 70 vette master. I could have done a jegster plastic deally but the vette master was $17 instead of $170...

Not worth it over 3 pounds.

It's like you removed me from the truck. lol

Lol or me a little less than a me!

Theres a lot of weight hiding in the bed... Not sure if Im gonna go after it.

I also plan on basically slicing the back wall of the cab out and replacing it with aluminum. Im nuts lol

I don't think I'd worry too much about the back weight.

Of course I'm obsessed with a 50/50 weight distribution. Those trucks being so nose heavy

Any of you guys remember Hot Rod Magazine's Caddy Hack? Where they took a 17 second caddy, basically cut the whole body off it, and it was turing 13's I think.
