Stomis submitted a new Build:

Stomis' 94 Street Truck

We all have a disease. At least Im in good company of others with the disease. The first thing the wife said when I went to buy this truck was "This isnt gonna be another thing you sink a **** load of money into is it?" I gave her a boldface lie of a NO! right to her face and she knew it too. Only reason Im getting away with it is cause she likes the thing :D

So Ive spoken of it on here but never really elaborated. I bought a 90% done project from a guy on craigslist. Specs as follows:

Originally was a 1994 GMC sierra C1500 standard cab shortbed 2wd. Base model with a 4.3 and 5 speed. So the guy I bought it from gets his hands on it and does a lot of decent work to it. Paints the frame, straightens the body out, primes it, and most importantly throws a VERY health 355 in it.

So I buy it like this for $2400. Figure I test drove it and it drove well so I'll drive it home the 1.5hrs.

Excited to see where this ends up going. Looks like an awesome start to begin with!

Did my first tuning work on a carb ever... Changed my squirters from 29s to 35s ,my primary jets from 65s to 67s and my vacuum secondary springs from a stiff fuel mileage stocker to a purple performance spring. I never played with a carb before. I had no idea there was so much to change beyond jets...

Its running way better and Id say I picked up even more on the bottom end. No more stumble when you jump on it from a roll.

Im really on the fence what I want to buy for it next. Ive got a punch list that goes like this:

- 4.56s and a posi ($800)
- Pick up a core T56 ($500), even found a GTO unit with the 3:1 first gear Im waiting to hear back on.
- Aluminum driveshaft ($300)
- Fine spline clutch ($250
- Forward shift conversion for T56 ($400)
- Tick Performance 450ftlb rebuild ($1300 + plus what ever a new counter shaft costs)

After driving the truck in the rain today though I did decide to jump on getting myself some new tires. 31x10.5s out back and 27x9s up front. Just some regular highway general grabbers. Were the cheapest out of the 4 tire lines that have the proper size spread I wanted.

I'll follow... :waytogo: this turbo 5.3 thing has me interested:thinking:

The 5.3 is a little bit of a ways off I would say but I do want to do it.

So I spent the day at the shop working on the truck and the wifes car. Changed the oil and retuned the idle on the carb with the new jets/squirters. Then I went on to tackling the wiper and ignition switch. Lovely mess of dropping the column and taking it all the way apart...

Snapped some overall shots of how the truck is sitting right now.

As you can see the bumper and grill are off. I had to wait for the wifes wheels to dry and I had some extra plasti dip so I got to work on that front bumper. KILL THE CHROME!

Gotta put it back on tomorrow morning. I almost painted my existing grill black to match but I really wanna get an early composite light chevy grill at the junkyard. Im planning on painting the hood, grille, bumper, and tailgate flat black and doing the rest of the truck gunmetal grey.

Heres the wifes wheels done in plasti dip.

Sorry for the **** pics on the last post. I screwed with my phone camera settings and didnt realize it degraded the quality at the same time...

I put the bumper back on this morning. I love plasti dip just to say it again. I cant wait to paint the truck with it this spring. The bumper came out great. Unfortunately it doesnt have the eye popping effect I hope it would but that w/t grill just ruins everything. I gotta get my hands on an early Sport style grill and shoot the grille and hood to match the bumper.

Thats cool... Bet that would be one smooth shifting SOB.... :D

Eh its the same trans as the core from the GTO I missed out on just no slip yoke. Buying a good trans, especially an M12 (better power rating and gear spread for heavier things) would put me way ahead.

**** he just texted me sold it already.

Seriously. I'm thinking about throwing an s10 nv3500 in it with the taller 1st and just calling it good for now. I just found that they make 4.30s for 10 bolts so it would be a good compromise between 4.10s and 4.56s gear wise.
