Stomis' 94 Street Truck - Snail Trail

Trucks looking good, good luck with the job situation. You'll probably end up better off.

I'm way better off. Getting unemployment based off the prevailing wage I was making has me making $150 a week more than the 3 past weeks I returned to regular wage.

Been striking lots off the list at the garage between side work jobs. Exhaust is done and installed, buttoned up some loose bolts, and cleaned the **** out of the shop. Musta swept up a 1lb of dust.

Frame was patched and swaybar remounted over the weekend.

Exhaust on and done :waytogo: First thing Ive had in 4 years with a full exhaust that I didnt just dump halfway under it lol.

Did you use V band clamps on everything? Fancy. What it that, dual 2.5"? Should work good for the 5.3. You have long tubes right?

Yes longtubes, and quite nice ones. The headers I put ball and sockets on because I like being able to set that angle out of the headers flat with the chassis. I used Vbands before the muffler and after the muffler. Besides being the only way I'll build a custom exhaust I also welded the mufflers together so you really couldnt twist and spin a pipe in and out of a slip fit.

I didnt pay $60 a set up for vibrants, I honestly think that ridiculous unless you're building a super money car. Theyre $18 a pop on ebay and they work extremely well. The trooper exhaust had them on it.

It is 2.5 true dual and it will stay that I think. Even if I do a bigger cube bottom end I'll leave the exhaust alone and just put some electric cutouts in for serious time.

Omg my body mounts are a ****ing mess :doah: I knew the driver front was pulled through. I jacked the driver side up and broke all the bolts off of course. Welded some nuts on the stubs and got them out no problem but the frame sides are all shot...

And the pass rear is broken off on the cab. Looks like I just found a couple of days worth of work. Gotta see if anyone sells repop ones. I really think it would just be easier to cut them off the frame and weld new ones on...

take pics and notate.. I need to do the ones on the black 92 GMC... I suppose I should actually look at them at some point... :haha:

Im thinking what Im going to do is stop by mcmaster on my way out to Hamilton tomorrow and get some big ass washers that have the same ID as the part of the bushing that would pass through the mount. I'll sandwich the mount with them top and bottom and hopefully they'll grab back enough to find good metal to weld to.

This should work on all my mounts except the drivers side rad support. That mofo is gonzo. I held these blasts from the trooper past up against the frame and groaned and grunted for a minute...

Then decided I really didnt want to start cutting the body mounts off the frame and being tasked with getting them in the right spot... I already need to measure where the patches should go to center the body because I dont even have 2 that are solid enough to "clock" the cabs location over the other mounts...

i had a 88-98 body style I had to make jumbo washers for to weld on top of the frame bracket and use it as the repair . worked great for many years till the frame snapped in 2 behind the cab .

Well I got some washers from McMaster on the way home today when I was out by trenton. The washers will work great. 1-7/8 ID fits the new poly bushings perfect. The issue is that my mounts are rotten so far open that the washers dont have a large enough OD to grab good material :doah:

My drivers side front mount it will work on and maybe the pass side front. Off to the internet to see if I can find fender washers. I may just be whipping up a quicky CAD file and sending it off to Kert to basically replate the top of the mount.

I know you're focused more on the work truck. But did you ever get the harness back and get this puppy fired up??
